• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Finally getting a Spyder!

After years and years of wanting a Spyder it's finally happening. I had a discussion with the wife/CFO the other night. I'm not getting any younger. I'll be 60 in January 2020. My dad passed on 25 years ago at the age of 60 and this has always weighed heavy on my mind. That's why we retired as young as possible which was done 1 1/2 years ago. I'm not the type that has ever composed a bucket list but there were always two things that I wanted to do in life. One of them was realized in 2009 when saw my favorite band that had broken up in 1974 whom I never got to see by that time. Maybe that's a trite thing but it was a big one for me. The other is to get a Spyder and ride. We are getting a new 2018 RT Touring Limited from iMotorsports.

I've never rode before so I have no license. I have no desire to ride a two-wheel bike. But I'm going for the Can am class next weekend to learn how to ride the Spyder and also get my license. By the next week or so, I expect the delivery of the Spyder and then off we go.

congratulations....🎉🎉🎉

Sooo much sweeter if you had to wait, save, skimp, plan and canive to get there but here you are. Enjoy the ryde  It only gets better from here on :2thumbs:

That’s awesome news! My story is similar in that the first motorcycle I rode was a Spyder and I had to provide a rationale to the CFO. Unless the same material is covered by the Can Am course I highly recommend taking the motorcycle safety course anyway. I learned a lot in that. Calif doesn’t require a motorcycle endorsement for a Spyder but many do so be sure you don’t need it.

Other than that, ride ride ride then ride some more!

 Wow awesome, Go for it you will love it. Make sure and post a picture of your new Spyder in the Spyder Garage when you get it home!! Live to Ride, Ride to Live. :2thumbs:

 :congrats:  Just got back from a 5 hour ride on the one sunny day I could have between all the rains we're getting and it's so, so, so good. Learn and Ride Safe.
May you have many, many happy miles of smiles.

I think you and others who have never ridden a motorcycle and go straight to a Spyder have an advantage over those of us who rode MCs for decades. I did the two wheel thing for 67 years and it is real hard to rewire my synapses for Spyder riding, especially in left hand off camber curves. When the bike leans right when I'm trying to turn left, my brain is saying, We're going to die for sure!!!
Good luck, you are going to have a ball out there, finding reasons to hop on and go, meeting new friends and seeing the world from a different perspective. In a car, it's like seeing a movie. On a bike, you are in the movie.

Congrats on the new adventure. You were much more successful in gaining the CFO support... about 14 years more successful to be truthful. We just finished another Texas Hill Country ride on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. Jump on the saddle and enjoy the ride:congrats:

Congratulations! My story is somewhat similar to yours. My wife and I got our Spyder 3 years ago and finally got to see Foreigner in concert last year. RICZ' analogy between a car and a motorcycle is a pretty apt description of riding a motorcycle, so go out there and make some movies!

:congrats::welcome: .....look on the " Spyder general Forum " page for the " Do's and Do Not's " …. lots of good info about how to operate a Spyder successfully .....Mike :ohyea:

Congratulations on getting the CFO to come around. You're going to absolutely have a blast on your new Spyder.

I'm curious, which band?

jbim - it was Mott The Hoople. The original members reunited in 2009 after 35 years. My wife and I went to London for the first three of the five sold-out shows they did. It was almost like a religious experience, such joy. There were a lot of not-too-many-dry-eyes in the house those nights. It's funny how music affects us.
