fender lamps

I did a quick search and did not find the info I need (probably there, I just can't find it). My wife's 2011 RT has less than 3000 miles and the right fendertip lamp has already gone out. I looked in the manual and can't find a number for the lamp. Eventually we want to go to the LED fixtures but for now I just need to know what replacement lamp to purchase.

There ok, the reason why I got the LED's for the fender tips was because I added the fender channel LED's from Tricled.com. I chose the white and red combination and with the stock bulb the lights didnt match. The stock bulb has a more yellowish tint versus the white LED's.

The lamp is a T-10 They are available in different colors. They are available at auto parts stores. LEDs draw less power than conventional lamps. Also available on Ebay. They are not expensive.

I have changed both of my wifes bulbs, she is at 44,000mi. , one was burnt out the other wasjust loose, they are avery common bulb readily available, becausethey just push in it might just be loose, you have to takethe tires off to get to the bolts .

We stopped by Autozone & got a pair of bulbs ourselves yesterday

Not sure about the above post talking about removing a tire, but you don't have to do that to just replace the fender tip bulbs. Just reach your hand behind the fender & push the bottom of the holder up & out & it should just pop out for you. Then take the round base & twist & that will release the holder of the bulb. The bulb then just pulls straight out & you can replace it. We tried an LED bulb from Autozone, but it wouldn't work, so we went with the standard bulb. At 6 months, we couldn't tell a difference between the old buld on the right or the new one on the left. Hope this helps & here's a pic of the stock replacement bulb. Eventually, we'll go to LEDs from ebay ourselves, but for now, these replace stock well :thumbup:

Not sure about the above post talking about removing a tire, but you don't have to do that to just replace the fender tip bulbs. Just reach your hand behind the fender & push the bottom of the holder up & out & it should just pop out for you. Then take the round base & twist & that will release the holder of the bulb. The bulb then just pulls straight out & you can replace it. We tried an LED bulb from Autozone, but it wouldn't work, so we went with the standard bulb. You do not have to reach inside the fender, you can push the lens from the outside, far enough to release it. Even with mudflap lights added, there is enough wire to pull out the socket and twist off the lens.

We got Teds Red Sled on May 26th, so its just 7 months old & I can't tell any difference in the old bulb & the new bulb, so I'd have to say NOnojoke

Thanks Scotty, I didn't know that. As the original poster of the thread mentioned, I also did a search but didn't find good info like we now have here on how to actually change this bulb out. I mean, wow, I know we're only talking about changing a light bulb, but if you've never done it before, it can seem more complicated than it actually is, especially when the manual provides no information at all about it. Its more than just unscrew the bulb & replace like in the house, you have to know how to get the fixture unmounted, be careful with the rubber gasket, once unmounted then you have to twist the round base to release the bulb holder, then pull the bulb straight out, then you can replace said buld with a new one. Granted, many others have a working knowledge of automobiles & mechanics, but not me. This is the first machine I've ever done anything maintenance-wise to, & its solely because of the knowledge base here on SpyderLovers & Great Forum Members like YOU & LAMONT that so often come to the rescue of would-be wrench turners like me. I'm not ashamed to admit my ignorance here, cause I'm learning so much from all of you & getting entertained more often than not as well.
