• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

feedback needed--warranty and service question

I'm picking up the Spyder tomorrow (Yeah!!!) and had a few questions for those who have already taken delivery. Feel free to answer or point me to a previous thread--thanks.

1. The dealer offered me a three year comprehensive warranty (beyond the 2 years from brp) for $499. Does that seem like a good deal? Have others made purchased the warranty?

2. They also offered me three regular service visits for $599. Good deal? How much have folks been paying for the first service?

Hard to believe I will be riding tomorrow!

:congrats: and :welcome:

I would say #1 is not a bad deal and I would go for it. I do all my own work so it wouldn't pay for the service but it might to you.

Let us know how the first ride went and post some pics if you can. :doorag:

MDR,
That is about $400 cheaper than my dealership is offering the same thing for. Seems like a good deal; especially if you don't plan on doing much of your own mechanical work. The warrenty I was offered also included roadside service. Maybe that accounts for the price difference?

I got the extended warranty simply because this is a new model and I had no idea how the front-end would wear, etc. Never bought one before in over forty years of riding.

Thanks, Lamonster. I don't trust myself with fixing things, so the warranty and the service plan might be a good idea.

The forecast in Southern California calls for sunny skies and 65-70 degrees the rest of the week (sorry to all of you in snow country). I'm planning a long, coastal ride. I'll try to stop and get some pics.

Thanks, guys. I picked up the Spyder this morning and they gave me 30 days to decide on the warranty. It is the BRP extended plan, and I have roadside assistance with my insurance (Foremost) so I'll be truly covered. The dealership is offering a good deal on the warranty because they are hurting right now. The turn in the economy has REALLY slowed their business, and I think they could use some cash flow. I'll probably buy the extended warranty since it is a new product, and I plan on enjoying this ride for a long time.

Im not so sure about that 30 day limit. I believe you have until your warranty runs out to purchase the extended warranty. The dealer may change his price after 30 days, but I believe BRP will allow you to buy it up until day 0 (and usually a small grace period after) on your original warranty. Might wanna check into that.

L J is right...you have until the end of the mfg warranty to purchase an extended B.E.S.T. warranty, but you will have to pay an additional fee if the extension is not bought within a specified time. I forgot what that time limit is...maybe 6 mo ?

You guys are right about being able to purchase the warranty later--the lower price, however, is only good for 30 days according to the finance director. I guess the usual price is a couple hundred bucks more--but you know how salesman work . . .

I purchased from Hahm in Anaheim, California. They started off pretty shaky (more details in a later post), but the salesperson (James) ultimately took care of me in the end. Gotta go ride!
