There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. I am looking for opinions on the 2014 spyder touring I am thinking of purchasing one and looking for feed back. This will be my purchase of one. As well as doing my road test on one. I have my learners already just need to do the road test. I like the idea of being on three rather than two wheels.

My first Spyder was a 2012 RT-L.
I loved that bike! (may it rest in pieces)
I bought a 2014 RT-L and can't even remember the first ones name!!! :roflblack:
It is just a joy to ride.
BRP did listen to many of the complaints from fellow riders about different issues on past models and has addressed many of them.
All I can say is you won't regret buying a 2014 RT and with the 2015's hitting the sales floor there are deals to be had!

Welcome to the Forum....

...and the manufacturer hit a home run when they came out with the 2014 RT models. New engine - transmission, etc. Problems? Yep, a few. All were promply taken care of and were isolated and minor (judging from past posts here on the Forum).

Take your test ride - but also I'd recommend reading the 'sticky' on the main page that was put together for new owners/riders juist like yourself. Full of great information.

Awesome machine

Started my Spyder "life" with a 2010 RT...put 70k wonderful miles on that machine...but then the '14 arrived and I debated alot with a firm NO my '10 is perfect. Read some more, listened to the folks on here that I respect alot. Said OK...from the minute I turned the 2014 RTS over I was 'smitten'. That was end of April. Now have 16k incredible miles of traveling. There is nooooo comparison between the 998 engine and the 1330. No regrets from this addicted Spyder ryder. Already planning on at least 30k miles of smiles for ryding season '15. First major trip will be my annual trek to Spyderfest 2015 in Springfield, MO (about 4600 miles RT). Then North to Alaska for 6-8 weeks. And my grandson announced he is getting married mid August in Nebraska...why fly when I can ryde. Yep I luv, luv, luv the 2014. BRP got it right (well there was the rear tire issue, but BRP stepped up to the plate and that is no longer an issue). So my recommendation. DO IT..:clap::thumbup: for the 2014 RTS :spyder:

Howdy neighbour and welcome to the sight.

The forum is full of stories of owners of older models and people like myself that went from 2 wheels to a 2014 Spyder (mine is RTS) and are extremely happy. BRP got it right with the 2014. There have been very few issues.

They do take a little getting used to but nothing insurmountable and as already mentioned, read the "does and don't". A few after market changes such as a lazer alignment and a new swaybar are very beneficial. The dealer probably knows little or nothing about these things but this group is extremely knowledgeable.

Best of luck,

Gary

I have not had my 2014 RTS long (5 months) but I love it.Handles great, very very very fun to ride.By the way did I mention its fun to ride :2thumbs: Go ride/test one out you will love it

:welcome:
We started out with a 2010 RT A&C model...
It lit the fire for us! :D
We decided to trade it in for a 2014 RT Limited because of all of the changes that they made to the bike.
As it turns out: everything that we loved about our 2010, we love even more on the 2014.
And the stuff that needed some "attention"; they truly hit a home run on! nojoke

The first :f_spider: was a 2010 RTS put 42,000miles on it . No problems with it. Wasn't looking to trade but the dealer made me a good offer to trade for a 14 RTL in Sept. Traded for it an haven't looked back. The 10 was a great bike but the 14 is a lot better because the 1130 engine, less maintenance . You should be able to get some good deals on the 14 because15s are hitting the floor and the F3s will be moving too

I have gone from a 2010 RT to a 2012 RT to a 2014 RT, and all I can say is life keeps getting better.. Never had so much fun in many decades... 2014 RT surprised a lot of us by the quantum leap of improvements that BRP implemented over prior years

Ditto what everyone else has said. I started with a 2010 RTS and traded it this Apr/May for the '14 RTS. Couldn't be happier!

[BTW, the yellow ones are fastest!]

Was in Same Boat

I've owned my '14 RT-S three months now and have 2,500 miles on it. After a good number of decades off powered two wheels and with two artificial hips I opted for a Spyder. I've been so satisfied with it that a day off the machine is an incomplete one. It's one great ride! Wear a face shield or you'll spend lots of time brushing the bugs off the teeth in that huge smile.

My list of :spyder2:'s in my signature at the bottom.

Includes the first made, an early semi auto, the first RT and the first RT with the 1330.

I have not owned an ST or any models from 2013.

I have been happy with all of mine and never experienced any major problems except for one. The 2009 computer crashed at 1500 miles. The dealer took one out of a showroom model and had us up and running in two days.

IMO: So far, the 2014 RT with 1330 ACE is best of the best. Have not tried a F3, but Rider magazine Jan Edition gave it a pretty good write up.

Nothing to say that has not been said. Went from a 2011 RT-S to Mr. Cognac. Just installed a BRP comfort seat (softer and 2" more room for my longer legs) and Lamonster foot pegs....these items sure make my Spyder more comfortable for me. Mr. Cognac is a winner.

My first test ride

was scary. Somewhere on this site I read about alignment problems. I took the advice and took a second test ride on a different 14 RTS :spyder2:. What a difference! So, if your 1st test ride doesn't go well, don't give up. :lecturef_smilie: On this site you'll find great folks and lots of solution and good advice on almost any problem you'll run across, even problems with your :spyder2:. nojoke :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::clap:

I have had my 2014 RT for 3 weeks now. The Spyder is a beast yet it's a fun ride. Plenty of room for 2 & we love the storage options. The Spyder is a smart vehicle it will let you have your fun but will remind you when you are getting reckless. Lots of safety controls equals some added peace of mind.
Just make sure you have room in your garage. It looked a lot smaller on the show room floor and in the parking lot. When I brought it home I was surprised how big it really is.

feedback on 2014 spyder

GREAT MACHINE
I started with a '12 RT S, upgraded to a '14 RT L
I thoroughly enjoy riding it. I have 4,000 miles on mine.
I haven' added the sway bar or elka shocks, but plan to Jan. or Feb.

Welcome..!!

your headed in the right direction if your looking for a touring model. Though first year for this version it has fared well and most will recommend it. If you have no restrictions (money, family, time etc) go for it...:2thumbs::ohyea::ohyea:

Just Do It!!!

My first one was a 2011 RT Limited. I absolutely loved it. Always rode two wheels up until that time. Had to make the transition to keep the wife riding on long trips with me. Thought I would never get rid of it I loved it so much. Rode a 2014 RT Limited and knew I had to have one. Bought one last week and I have no regrets. I am loving it as much or more than the first. Primarily because of the new engine and transmission. Its awesome. I am now working on tricking it out with all the stuff I had on the first one.

You won't regret going with the Spyder RT Limited.
