FEDERAL EVO 595 TIRES

YOUR KIDDING RIGHT

attachment.php

This one seems to match up even better!

WRONG , WRONG, WRONG, ........Robert !!!....the difference in width here is ...12% ....you think that is a close match................The WIDTH of the tires used on a Spyder is far more important than the circumference...............This is a FACT not my opinion.................Mike

I always thought that you liked some meat underneath the front end.
You have to be more careful about changing the tire diameters (As long as the new ones can fit under the fenders).
Mis-matched tires speeds can cause error messages to pop up! nojoke

omg

I always thought that you liked some meat underneath the front end.......What I like, and can do is far different than what I would " blithely " suggest to others to do .....like YOU have just done......leading people astray can be very expensive for them when they take BAD ADVICE !!!!!!

....Really, ...OK ...name one ( size ) tire that will fit in the fender ( of a Spyder ) that will cause an ERROR message ???????........Mike :banghead: Part 1. of my reply is in .blue

Exactly what bad advice are you referring to? :dontknow: I am pretty much the "Poster Child", for saying leave it as close to stock as you can...
I have only recently begun to re-think some of my theories about tires sizes, and am open to discussion about them.

What vehicle?

OK guys, here's the question. What vehicle do we say we're buying tires for when we buy front tires? I was going to order the Federal 165R55/15 from Onlinetires.com but a mandatory box asks what vehicle. So what do I put in there? And what do I put in there if I want to instead order the Kumho 155R60/15 tire? I don't find where this has been discussed here before.

I wonder if there may be some Federal rules coming into play requiring online sellers to verify application? When I ordered the rear tire last spring, or was it last fall, from onlinetires I didn't have to give a vehicle info.

W.W.----- tell them you have a 1965 VW ................I think that was the OEM size........Mike

:yikes:.....The last TIRE chart you posted showed a 185/50-15 Tire and you stated " THIS ONE SEEMS TO MATCH UP EVEN BETTER ".!!!!! anyone thinking this was GOOD advice would have found out after purchase that it wouldn't fit.....without extensive modifications.........I consider this to be BAD ADVICE............there are newcomers here who look at your POST COUNT and may get the impression what you have to say is valid...........most of the old-timers KNOW BETTER.................:banghead::banghead::banghead:....and I realize I'm :bdh:in discussing anything with you......................Mike

I should have clarified my statement: Based solely upon tire diameters; it matches up even better. :D
I suppose that I'm oversimplifying it; but I look more closely at potential error codes, than I do actual fitment problems.

I checked them out. The tire price was within pennies the same but shipping was about $10 more than onlinetires. But if I can't get past the vehicle info requirement I may go with them. I take it they did not require you to tell what vehicle you were putting them on?

Federal PSI?

Good afternoon all,

Can I assume that the cold pressures would be different from a 2 ply Kenda to a 4 ply Federal?
I would think they would be slightly squishy at 20PSI.

If so, does anyone have a recommendation for the PSI of the Federals up front?

Thank you

WHERE OH WHERE

WHERE OH WHERE did this idea that Kenda and 1 other tire are the ONLY tires that will fit the SPYD3Rs....?????
i've used 3 different brands; 2 brands on my RS, and now the HANKOOKs on my F3... and i have NEVER HAD A PROBLEM in over 50,000 miles of smiles...
i find my HANKOOKs are a world apart from the OEM Kenda's and would buy them again... except they are an 80,000 mile tire, and most likely i'll have another SPYD3R before these wear out....
LOOK here;

which ever tires you decide on, let us know how you like them....

Just put a new set

Of Hankook tires on my RT this past weekend. Haven't been able to take the bike out yet so cannot say how they perform. No fitment issues to speak of though.

" 16 " lbs. ... it's a car tire with much stiffer sidewalls....... so less is better ..............Mike

^^ Wot'E says!!

For the fronts, 20-21 odd psi in a car tire (likely capable of carrying 1000+lbs plus @ saaay 40psi max per tire) would be fine if your Spyder weighed over at least 500lbs on each tire; but it's more likely the front weighs in at less than around 750lbs total, or something less than 375lbs on each tire.... (currently my 2013 RT only puts down about 660lbs up front/330lbs per tire & the last 1330 RT I weighed only came in at 695lbs total  ) Running them at pressures that are too high reduces their grip on the road, especially on wet roads; increases the risk of road hazard punctures; & increases the risk of centre tread wear, possibly also feathering on the tread edges & likely adding to any 'darty' type steering response. As always, it's ultimately your own call, buuut..... :dontknow:
