• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Does anyone have a list of fault codes and their explanation in PDF format that I can download and print off for future reference? Also the procedure to find the codes on a 2010RTS SE5

My Midwest Manual has 38 pages detailing the fault codes associated with the Spyder RT.

To view if you have any active fault codes do the following

Turn on ignition
Wait for the multifunction gauge to perform its self test
Simultaneously press the Mode,Set & Turn signal buttons.
if you have any active codes they will be displayed.

If you can

And if you can pull up the codes with the aforementioned procedures, any and all experts on this forum will guide you from there. Oh, go to Midwestern Manuals and see if he has a DVD of the manual for your machine. I did and it was most worthwhile.

I've got the shop manual stored in my computer (somewhere! ;))
Maybe there's a way to pull the pages and either print or save them...
Let me chip away at it a bit and I'll see if I can learn something useful...

Already have a electronic manual, will check it out. Next, need to see if I have any faults, I'm assuming once a fault appears it stays within the system until it is cleared or fixed??

That's correct...
You can pull up any active fault codes, but even if they stop misbehaving, they're stored in the computer so that the BUDS computer can take a crack at them.

If your bike acts oddly;
Lay your thumb across both the Mode and Set buttons
Then push in the turnsignal switch (As if to cancel a signal)
If something is going on, you'll get some codes thrown at you...

Ok, once again I'm assuming the bike has to be running in order to see the fault codes????

Following this thread has been as clear as mud. I guess I'd like to pick a few plums from the good advice above, just for clarification:

1. The shop manual is your best source for fault codes
2. The Spyder can only display active fault codes on the display
3. Occurred faulty codes are stored until cleared, but viewing them and clearing them must be done by the dealer via BUDS
4. It is best to display fault codes when the Spyder is running, as many would be inactive when it was not
5. Fault codes can be displayed with just the key turned on, if necessary, but what can be displayed will be limited because the faults must be active

Found the fault codes in my manual on my Mac however won't let me copy or print. May purchase an online manual that allows printing etc. in the meantime have PM re access for PDF of codes.

check engine light question

Good Morning, i installed a juice box, while playing with the adjustments i set a code for lean exhaust, ( now set on #3 ) last saturday 3-9-13 i was going to the dealer ( about 60 miles away ) to have my check engine light turned off. after filling my tank with fuel, i started the spyder, and the check engine light went off and stayed off, my question is, if the computer see's so many good starts will it shut the light off, by itself. it has been started several times, and rode over a hundred,s of miles since the light had come on. the juice box was bought and install back in january. Thanks for any help

Here is a link to just the Fault Codes in PDF. This PDF can be carried with you on your iPad/iPhone (I use good reader). You will have to PM me for the username and password since I have it in a protected directory.

FYI most of the download Shop Books cant be used on ipad/iphone.

What app did you use on the iphone to read the pdf? The pdf is password protected so I could not convert it to the ebook thing.

Thanks
John

I use good reader. The manual that I downloaded I have already taken all of their protections off of it and now I can use it anywhere that can open a pdf. I use mac most of the time and I dont like having adobe reader on it because mac can read pdf with out any additional application.
