• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Fatal Spyder crash in Oregon

With the information provided, it sounds to me like the driver of the car was NOT at fault. They were turning left when the Spyder approached them from the rear and attempted to pass.

Does the info provided say whether the turning vehicle was displaying a left turn signal at the time?

Very sad that someone should lose their life this way.

My prayers go out to the family.

One other thing I do when starting to pass.... I always HONK to make sure the cars know I am coming up on their left side to pass. Yes I pay attention to what the car is doing, but a HONK can never hurt. Lets them know and reminds them you are there.

I think everyone should have a Hit-Air jacket...period. There is NOTHING safer to wear when you are riding. A jacket that fills with air provides far more protection than one that doesn't.

If this particular case was a burst fracture, nothing would've helped anyway though...

However, more cases than not, an inflatable jacket will save lives...

Very sad indeed. This is a pretty common accident scenario. Been in a similar one where I was the car turning--- had blinker on--- car from behind just wasn't paying attention and hit us.

I do remember back in drivers Ed they taught us to honk--- but I personally don't do that. In this era of road rage a honk can easily be taken the wrong way.

Either way this went down--- sad outcome. RIP

I never heard of the hit-air jacket until now. Thank you for posting that, looks like I'll have to check it out.

How comfortable are they in hot weather?

How comfortable are they in hot weather?

They're fine...vented...you'll be a bit warm, but it's not that bad...I ride with it in 95 degree temps in MD...with lots of humidity...you'll be warm, but it's doable...the only distributor in the country...Reuben, I think his name is...said $50.00 off to any Spyderlovers member because I was asking him if he could hook us up here...I've had mine I think 2 years now...

The jacket is really the way to go, if safety is a top priority...

I get far more hot with my full face shield than I do from the jacket...
