• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Sitting here watching the snow fall, with too much time on my hands… After seeing a 2010 RS-S on CL listed for $15,999, I went on KBB to see what the dealer probably paid for the bike - how about $8,000 +/-, or about 45% of it's original value. Then I looked at my RT-S -- how about $15,000 + a couple of hundred for the SE package, or 60% of retail. My V-rod is at 70% at the same age/milage.

Does someone know something that I don't?? Hardley's least appreciated bike with a retained value more than a RT-S??

KBB prices

I too was surprised at the KBB prices but I wouldn't put too much stock in them.
I just bought a used RS and I approached a few different dealers here in AZ and elsewhere and asked if they'd sell their used Spyders for KBB retail - they couldn't even get close. Same with private parties - no one will actually sell their Spyders for KBB prices. Would you?

The markup numbers seem a little high to me--I don't see the dealers making that kind of profit margin on the Spyder sale. This is speculation on my part though--does anyone have any "inside" information for sure?

I called a friend at the local Hardley dealer, and had him work up an offer for my RT - 7K miles, Corbin, RT-S SE5 w/Garmin (++) - $13,300 on a new Hardley - no, I wouldn't sell it for that, especially for a Hardley….

Also a pretty terrible time of the year in most geographic markets to get best value for a bike of any kind. I got $23650 from the insurance company for my 2010 RTS with 21000 miles on it but cashing it in that way was a bit bruising... Nonethless Insurance company valuations on the used bikes appear to be pretty high

I had a 08 GS, 19000 miles, stock, Can am dealer offered me 8 grand on a trade for a new Spyder.
I ended up with a new Tri Glide, 9 grand for the Spyder and 3 grand off the Tri.

If you want a more valid comparison, look at the values of the rest of the market, other than Harley or BMW. The prices on those are head and shoulders above everything else. The Spyder trade-in values are average or a bit above average.

We just bought Linda's purple 09 RS for Cindi...Credit Union determined it's worth at 13,750..we didn't have to discuss all the upgraded accessories she had on it so I think the Spyder is holding it's own value...but you're gonna find both dealer's and individuals who are gonna screw you...forgive the colorful adverb....

Littlebadwolf yep you got a good deal. I did have lots if extras on it and it was still under warranty. Hope your wife enjoys it as much as I did. I sure miss the purple bike but believe me my new one will be just as special

Good luck selling anything at a fair value in today's economy. You can talk about Harley's high resale value or KBB & NADA prices until you are blue in the face. Whatever you have is only worth what someone is willing to pay you for it.

I tried selling my Sportster at a fair price for 2 years without any luck. Everyone was offering me Honda dollars for the Harley. I finally traded it in on a new 2012 powersports trailer. I got value I was happy with and it allowed me to get something I could use while ridding myself of something I didn't want.
