Fairing for our current models

thank you firefly you made my point. with the amount of torque and 9500rpm redline with forthought they could have easily made the 5th gear an overdrive and satisfied people like me also.

Well---- to me 5th gear basically IS overdrive....:doorag:

I used to have an amp and 2 wheel tune speakers but a speaker broke - I think it was due to the vibrations because of where it was mounted. I can do amp again w/ marine speakers but I was sort of wishing for a "dash/console" w/ speakers in it - good ones, along with a plug for my cell phone which is also an mp3 player/gps & tv.

Below is a posting from another thread by thekershaw's, but just might be what you are looking for:

"Here's a site I found that sells a fairing/sterio shield. www.Hpconcept.net
I've seen one installed on a :spyder2:, and they look sweet."

COOL!!!!!!!!!!! :2thumbs: Now we're getting closer! I'm gonna write this place and see if there's a way I could keep my CHAD with something like this- that is one of my accessories I do not want to part with. That little windshield doesn't look all that great sticking out of the fairing but I'm totally liking the setup of the speakers, etc on it. Thanks for the info:clap:

Edit to Add: So what does everyone think of this? Thumbs up or the puking symbol?

I remember seeing that set up a few months ago. I don't like the windshield, but the fairing looks good. If I remember correctly, it was a pretty expensive system. I would really like to have a system where I could just plug in my ipod and have the choice of external speakers or listen on ear buds. I know immortal has a sound system, but I think you lose the entire trunk.

i saw this one at the Montreal Moto show in the spring.. i agree the windshield was not for me either but the fairing was pretty nice

A different direction . . .

I am not a fan of fairings, BUT, I finally had some time to think about this while feeding my Spyder bugs yesterday.

I saw this on the Direct Line Parts site;
The Cranker Bag

But, then I thought, why not just go to a car stereo shop and have them install the speakers directly on your Spyder like this:
picture.php

(apologies for the rough mock up)
Depending on the amp you get, it should fit under the Y console too, but under the seat should be a slam dunk. Power wiring should be straight forward. AUX and iPod plug-ing could go up by the handle bars with a docking base, either permanent or Velcro attached. I think that placement would make the "controls" easier to get to also.

Depending on the speakers and grillwork options, you might have several options for the shape (and maybe colors) of the speaker inserts. I understand that a lot of them carry weatherproof speaker sets. A lot would depend on your local shops.

I think the speakers pointing up towards you like this would give better sound. But, you could test it out before modifying the Y yoke or console or whatever they are calling it.

The wiring should be pigtailed to a set of plugs so when you remove the Y it is just one thing in one spot to unplug.

So, a removable tank bag sound system or modding it so it is integrated.

Maybe not what you are looking for, but offered in the spirit of being constructive and without any Madonna jokes.

Seems like a possible alternative to more expensive systems, but don't you need to have a metal tank since it connects via magnets? I'm also wondering if 40 watts would be high enough output at higher speeds?

I like the cranker bag! but how would I get it to stick to the tank hmmmmm. I found some marine speaker I like and I already have an amp could end up that way eventually. Just thought some sort of dash would be cool. I like the one from Canada but I don't like the windshield that is built in to it. But cool idea w/ that cranker bag thing!:2thumbs:

The bag they show has some O rings, with some short flat bungie cords, they could just clip onto the Y .

Honestly, I don't know what 40watts would sound like, but if you have an amp and speakers, you could do your own bag and have a cord to the fuse box or directly to the battery. The speakers would be closer to you on the Y instead of in a fairing/dash. Easy enough to test. Your own personal custom toon boom bag.

There may be others that are more powerful, but that vendor is one of the SypderLover site sponsors. I didn't really look any further.

Why don't you get those robo-brackets and mount them to the HR fairing, toss the windshield screen then you can have a good looking windshield with the function of the CHAD?:doorag:
