• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Factory Instructions for changing Oil and Filter

Thanks for that information, it is really well spelled out. The parts cost about 35.00 plus the oil. This will save me money for sure.

I did a webpage to show you the tools you will need to assemble (bits, wrenches, etc.) if you do the change in accordance with the factory instructions.

These instructions are old and no longer accurate. Since the new lower panel came out, most of the panel removal is no longer necessary. Also, the hole that was added to the vertical support now allows easier access to the filter bolts.

I heard that the oil could be drained from the underside by removing one plastic cover. I was going to attempt that first and use this as a fallback. But this shows the process very clearly.

Really?

1. Whoever thought up this design was clearly either hoping to sell a lot of replacement engines or devising a way to pump up income for the dealers.

2. Anyone, mechanics aside, who think this looks easy is nuckin futs.

My question is if you have the easy remove lower panel do you still have to take the top panel off? I can pop the rivets and get my black lower panel off in 5min. :dontknow: Lamont says 10 min for a change

Which is the new panel? The one on the left or the one on the right? Question: Was I supposed to get the new panel last year when I got the new oil filter mod?

A second benefit of the new panel assembly is that it's much easier to check your oil level and make additions. When you pull the side body panel for checking oil, the new black plastic grill also comes right out giving you better access to the oil filler plug/dipstick. Sounds trivial but every time I check the oil I appreciate it.

Where and how do you go about getting New panel ?

Your dealer should have installed it for free when you were there. If not, ask them about it. BRP provided the free upgrade a year or so ago. Some dealers required you to have an oil change done to get the new panels.

PS: ask to keep the left side grill as it will be replaced with a new one. With a little ingenuity you can mount it on the right side.

It was at dealer when I had my 1 st service at 1000. Miles. It wasn't change then. I didn't know about it at that time, they should have. I have stop by and inquire on upgrade panel.

I'd be wondering if they changed the transmission filter..that is, if you have an RT SE. I call that sloppy or careless if they didn't advise of you the new panel and grill. Its prob not something they have in stock but it could be ordered.
