• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

F4 vs Cal Scientific windshields

Just looking for opinions on the differences between the F4 and Cal Scientific windshields for my f3 limited. Quality, looks, functuality ect. Does the additional cost of an f4 really give me anything more.

Thanks in advance for any opinions

Judging by the research I did before I purchased mine, they're both very good shields and you can't go wrong either way you go. I went with the F4, mainly because I was impressed by the steel wool test and the hammer test they have on their website. The F4 is a bit pricier than the Cal Scientific, but I spent the extra money.

I have an RT, but I've heard some complaints about the way they mount on the F3.

I'm sure you'll hear lots of different opinions in this thread, but this is just my two cents worth.

F4

I have tried three different windshield and the F 4 is the best. I do not mind the mounting brackets Which allows you to adjust the height.adjustable. I am 5'9" and ordered the large size and ride I be lowest position. I do not experience any buffeting. Best of all there is no back pressure even at speeds exceeding speeds of 75 mph. The quality of the shield is excellent. It is thick and dos not wiggle. I can definitely recommend the F4

Windshields are like seats oil and all the other stuff people think is the best. It's all about you and your needs and your style of riding!
I've had Calsci on my last three rides A BMW, RT and now my F3.
My shield of choice and I won't tell you what to buy.
Good luck in your search.

This info not valid for his F3 Limited. Completely different mounting system using the OEM mounting brackets. The height is not adjustable. Watch the F4 video to help picking the right length shield.

I have a 2015 so you have to go with the F4 mounts.

Yes, but the Limited was only introduced in 2016, and new F4 shields were made specifically for it. That's why they now say -
"The shield mounts with your existing hardware"
.......you may not have liked it on your 2015, but the OP is asking about a 2016 Limited.

Try cleaning the cal with a paper towel a few times or just about any other shield for that matter, scratch city... F4 has a video of theirs being cleaned with steel wool!

The F4 is the highest quality shield on the market and in this case, you get what you pay for

We have the F4 on our F3 Limited. Love it. It's maybe a 5 minute install. Very easy. Four screws, that's it. Tom :spyder:
