There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. f3s windshield

i have the f3s with the blue ridge windshield, i also added the clip on sport shield that is adjustable, that some others have added. at first this setup was good, but, it just wasn't high enough for me, as i am 6'- 1''. well, i went to ace hardware, bought some stailness steel braces, some bolts, washers, etc. it has raised the windshield apprx. 4 inches, because i cut the braces at 4.25. but, i think even more importantly it made the windshield go more straight up as it hits the wind. with this setup and the clip on at the top, i am still just able to see over it. perfect line of sight, and with that clip on you can adjust the wind flow to go more on you as it gets hot outside. i think this setup over all i just about perfect. i took it out on the highway and some side roads much, much calmer. i painted all the brackets and hardware black to match stock brackets. i think i have about 25.00 in it between paint and hardware. hope this helps.

Pics please......

thanks

Exactly...

This is the type of bracket the other guy used on his gage spoiler cover. I was wondering as to whether or not the Blue Ridge windshield could be raised in the rear exactly the same way. Now it's shown here in pictures, thanks!!

ArizonaSpyder,
Did your bracket tilt the BRP shield to it's max or can it be tilted more? I'm thinking about doing a similar bracket for my wife's shield (she is 60" tall) but with multiple holes so that the shield can be adjusted for different weather conditions......to allow some airflow on hot days and more protection on colder days or long rides. This would be the best of all worlds.

Did you slot the lower bracket where the mount used to attach? I believe that by design the bracket was just pinched in place to create a breakaway function in case of an accident. You can probably accomplish the same thing with your setup by using a slot instead of a thru hole in the old mount position. Congrats on the creativity by the way.

yes, just make sure you use flat stock with the holes in it, this will allow you to tilt it down more for more air flow, etc. i got my hardware at ace hardware, but I'm sure any home depot etc will carry what you need. just keep in mind you won't have more than a couple of positions to tilt it because the flat stock is only like 4 inches. i have mine setup to the highest position so this makes the windshield to be mostly straight up. for me this creates a nice bubble of calm for riding.

Well done..!!

its great when you see the diy guys out in force..looks nice and must work well for the freeway ryding...congrats..!! :2thumbs:

actually the more i think of it, why not make 2 sets of brackets, one for hot weather, one for colder weather. you can switch brackets in minutes its that easy. as for me, i am going to leave it in one spot since i have the clip on at the top i can adjust air flow with that. just my .02 :D

saddlebags

now onto the saddlebag situation. well, brp wants like 1200.00 for there smallish, overly priced saddlebags, so, i went on amazon and ordered a pair on hard cased leather like saddlebags for about 200.00. does not come with brackets or anything, but, i think i will come up with my own brackets. going to be my weekend project . :D

Not sure if something like this would work for the bags you got. http://www. ride bike gear.om/ride-best-brackets-heavyduty-quick-release-saddlebag-mounting-system-p-232.html A bit pricey for what you get I think but it gave me some ideas. The large upper plate is similar to what is already installed behind the passenger grips so all you would need are two stiff pieces to go down for the bags to attach to. Depending on length they might be able to rotate toward each other and hide behind the existing plate when not in use. The bags that match the brackets http://www. ride bike gear.om/rs-hard-top-load-saddle-bags-with-led-tail-lights-p-267.html Not a bad price but I would like to see one in person and hold it against the bike to see how bulky it is.

Do I need to change any position for the current BR winshield before I fix the extension part?
can I do it myself, or I need to take it to dealer?

no, no change to the br windshield, it clips on or bolts on. they supply both ways in the kit. the directions it comes with are kinda sketchy, but I was able to figure it out by looking at the pictures. I clipped mine on, holds very well that way. if youre worried about someone taking it then I would bolt it on, otherwise just use the clip on method. definetly don't take it to the stealership for this youll be able to do this, if you have trouble , I will help you through.

windshield update

first off, i have the blue ridge shield that i have modified by raising it up with brackets, night and day difference from what the stock configuration was. BUT, I'm hoping the gentlemen from f4 customs windshields come up with something better. in my opinion it needs to be wider and a little taller for better coverage. granted, it was very windy this weekend over here, but those couple of tweaks would make the ride from good to great, otherwise my f3s rocks... ;)

Elsewhere on the forums there is a warning about having any dealings with RideBikeGear. Abyssmal quality and zero customer service.

A huge thank you for the warning. Too many good vendors available to deal with losers.

I am curious how the bracket mounts. Mine just squeezes between the speedo and the metal spacer. I can't tell from the picture.

I hope you don't mind but I deleted your info on SCAM company, ride bike gear.
I was charged $$$ to my credit card even after bank assured me it would not go through.
The SCAM company waited 10 days the bank requires before allowing charge to go through, & then my new changed credit card was scam charged!!
They had the gall to email me & tell me they will call me so I can give them my cc# to order; NOT going to happen.
Paul emailed saying their system charged me in ERROR, a bunch of bull. (they DO NOT have a phone # you can call them at)!!!
Paul (if that is his real name), emailed me several times after trying to get me to order again.
These are pro crooks; (who knows where they are based).
WARNING: SL DO NOT order from this scam company!!!!
I always now check BBB rating before ordering on line!!
By the way, my 2015 F3S SE6 set up by Len, is awesome fast quick torque response with Pitbull's stainless steel exhaust header & SS flow through muffler (a little loud).
Seat of pants F3S feels as fast response as my FJR 1300 Yamaha I rode for 28,000 miles!!
Thanks.
Jim
