F3S Quiet Yoshimura R-77 muffler DIY mount, welded pipe collar

2015 F3S Spyder Yoshimura R-77 muffler (ordered for 2010 RS Spyder), has a fairly quiet sound at steady rpm freeway riding.
But barks with a kind of racing wailing sound of the in line triple when getting on throttle!!
Another option for F3 mufflers.

Enjoy rydes!

. ...OK, I'm curious -- I read the info on the LINK....not street legal ( not really concerned with this point )....It states it 's for other than F-3, so what did you have to do to get it to fit.............Do you think it could work on a 2014 RT without the " CAT " ???..... Also how much does it weigh ..............Thanks .....Mike

Just great, when my wife sees this she will want one now. :yikes::yikes::yikes::yikes:

Good work spyderyderjim :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Hi Mike,
Ya, if ordered from that California website it states that.
But if ordered from Revzilla it doesn't state that info.
http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/yoshimura-r77-race-slip-on-exhaust-canam-spyder-gs-rs

It is a RS muffler with a 90 deg bend with 2 1/4" front pipe connected with a short 3" round pipe (for RS muffler gasket).
I cut off 3" short pipe & had a muffler guy weld a 2" stainless steel collar to fit my F3S Pitbull sidewinder header pipe connection.
A regular pipe F3 would just need to have a short 2" pipe slipped in cut off end, welded & flared to fit F3 pipe header connection.
I built a 1" wide x 9" long x 1/4" thick Aluminum flatbar for F3S muffler hanger; bolted to hanger mount with two 6mm bolts & lock nuts, (drilled 2 6mm holes to line up with existing holes in F3S muffler hanger tubes).
Drilled a 5/16" hole in upper part for Yoshimura muffler bolt mounting, (adjusting muffler height level or tilted up).

Yes it would fit on your RT without a cat. Mounted to RT muffler hanger bolt.
You would need to have a short 2" ID pipe (in front of muffler) welded to cut off pipe with the 90 deg bend, flared at end to fit your cat bypass pipe.
Note that on my F3S the RS muffler is only at rear axle bolt; so may not be far enough rearward for your RT.
I had a RT Yoshimura muffler on my 2011 RT-S, that extended past rear of sidebags.

I think I would buy a 2011 RT Yoshimura muffler that mounts in correct position on your 2014 RT.
Cut off end of RT Yoshimura front pipe.
Then just slide a 1 3/4" pipe (cut off/weld) inside the Yoshimura 2" front pipe with a 90 deg bend with 1 3/4" pipe flared to a 2" end for connecting to cat bypass pipe.
It would fit like a regular 2014 RT muffler connection.
RS Yoshimura muffler weighs 7 1/2 #'s with mount strap & bolt.
Jim

Hey, Happy wife=Happy life, ha.
The RS Yoshimura muffler on F3S is quiet at steady rpm; but wakes up when getting on throttle.
Thanks. Jim
