• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

F3S gearbox sensor malfunction

Just traded in 2012 RTS for 2015 F3S. Drove home 150 miles with no issue. Took it for short ride down to Bob D. and on way home had trouble shifting from 4th to 5th. Looked at screen and the letter E
was where the number 4 should be. Hard to see screen in sunlight, but believe N and R lights were on. Manual says gearbox sensor malfunction. Has anyone had the same issue? Is this just a break-in
period glitch?

Let's see....

This happens some times when the shifting is to light (soft). The se models are more prone to this, one needs to be positive on the shifting. The sensor feels you made half a shift. If it clears and does not return and all is well after the computers reset you will be fine. Should it return you may have to have it checked out. Double check your oil level and linkage...

.

Call the dealer and get the Gear Position Sensor replaced.

Hi there is a campaign on that issue the dealer you bought it from should have run the Vin . We had the same issue as our dealer also let it go without running the Vin and I had to trailer it home then to the dealer .

Thanks for the info. It looks like I'll be getting the sensor replaced (that should have been replaced before I picked it up!!!)

Your sidebar avatar seems to mimic the dealers customer service...Bozo The Clown

Oh well, easy fix.

Hi Wayne,
You could have turned around, and left the bike in my garage...
I'd have let you take my RT home! nojoke
On the positive side: this is a known issue, and can easily be fixed!
(Although it's a shame that it needs fixing! :banghead:)

fixed

the dealer did put a new sensor in when it was built, but apparently it stopped communicating with the computer. it was reintroduced and seems to be working fine.
