F3L Exhaust Baffle

I had a complete cat bypass exhaust system installed and therein lies a
problem. It is way to loud for my bosses ears. So, is there a recommended
baffle that I could install in the pipe leading to the muffler that would
cut down on the bark of the exhaust and quite everything down some?
All thoughts/experience greatly appreciated.

Bypass

I'm with you Dray. I installed the bypass and thinking it was too loud I installed the can opener baffle. Someone called it a db killer. If it quieted it down any at all it was minimal.
Not that it's too loud for me, and the boss don't ride.
To me it sounds too much like a beer can muffler on the small cars.
I'm almost considering putting the cat back on.
Can'wait to see what others have to say.

I was gonna say, I live the sound right out of the box! No changes necessary! Sort of sounds like a swarm of angry hornets, and just hums along on long long rydes of 600 to a thousand miles in a day! Just love it stock!

I also went to the can opener baffle. It is still almost too loud but has a good note and more torque. These baffles go on the front end of the cat delete, You just have to tap them in with a hammer using a socket as a spacer to seat it. I am happy with the stock muffler and have a k&N air filter on the way to give it a little more boost.

What are the pros to installing the bypass pipe? Horsepower? Performance increase? If its for sound it's ironic to install the pipe to make it louder then install a baffle to quiet it down.

I have on order from lamonster garage a baffle that Lamont designed to quiet the muffler down.
The big city thunder baffle is more for back pressure than sound .

Muffler

I've had 5 different exhausts on the last 3 (2-wheeled) bikes I've owned and I vowed to leave the Spyder stock. You can spend a lot of money and it'll never be quite right for everyone and every occasion. Just my humble opinion.

For me it was weight reduction, heat reduction, smell reduction (crap was just sitting on top of the shelf-like OE unit and burning!), more sound (for me that is a plus as long as I can get it just right ;-) ). You will gain a little on the top end as far as power goes, but lose on the bottom end. This varies a bit as mine was minor but a friend's was major.... The prob is, when doing a bypass it goes from one end of the extreme to the other! You go from a sewing machine to a race bike! So you end up tweaking it with various baffles to get what you like. Ask me how I know!

Ray,

I had the bypass on the RT. Didn't care for the sound and Donna didn't either, so put the cat back on when I sold it and then sold the pipe.

I'm happy with the stock set up soundwise on the F3, but I do feel some heat on that side and that stock cat is nothing but a huge heatsink IMO, so was thinking about the by-pass again. And then see this thread so....blah.

If the heat proves to be an issue this summer, then I'm thinking about a by-pass and some sort of custom muffler, maybe a Supertrapp set up that can be tuned. We shall see.

I put an RT muffler on my wife’s F3S Daytona with Lamonts pipe.
