• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

F3 USB port

I'm about to take the plunge on a new 2017 F3 LTD. On my current Spyder RT LTD , I have a Ram mount where the factory GPS once was. I installed a USB in the switch console to power my phone.

Any one know what my options are for installing a USB port near handlebars on F3?

IF you are planning to install a Garmin 590 GPS, one of the wires on the harness is a USB port I just ran it to the base of the phone holder and Zip tied it. Lamonster Garage also has some options as well.

We have several options for powering up your phone in the F3 section.

When I had my F3 this is how I ran power to my handle bars for Phone and GPS as well as battery tender. When I traded in my F3 for a F3T I transferred everything over. The USB in the Dash is fine but it is made so you cannot run the power cable out to the handlebars. Its great for charging a phone if you leave the phone in the glove box or Bluetooth receiver.

I also have a battery pack that i purchased at Costco. sometimes when the battery gets low I would just stick it in my coat pocket and run a lightning cable under the jacket to the phone on the Xgrip. It does not get in the way with operating the Spyder and lasts several charges.. You can also take it in the resturant of wherever and go in with it still charging in your pocket.

I charges my Iphone 6 Plus.

It only provides 500ma which will charge slowly if the phone is not doing much of anything. If its on or being used for GPS, its not enough power to keep up with usage.

Most smart phones and the Garmin need 2A to charge while being used.

I did get a overcharging message when I tried to charge my SENA headset. Now I see why. I was on a cross country trip and i used the phone for music and in that case did a good job.

Wired it into the Customer Accessory Circuit.
