There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. F3 Trailer Hitch

Is there a trailer hitch available for the F3?

There are several aftermarket options. Bushtec comes up regularly but I do not have one and cannot comment on it.

There is no BRP option for the F3 ot F3-S. There is an announced new accessory hitch for the new F3-T and F3 Limited that will not fit the F3S or base model.

Swing-arm

Looks like they changed the swing-arm of the F3T & F3 Limited to an RT swing-arm which accepts the BRP hitch.

Bushtec used my F3 to protype a hitch. They made a new rear bumper and the hitch can be removed. Lewis at Electrical Connection did the setup for the trailer wiring. Had to go from three wire on the bike to four wire on the trailer. We went to Spyder in the Smokies and put about 450 miles with trailer attached, absolutely no issues with the hitch or trailer. Ran the Dragon go to Robbinsville, NC and back going home to TN. What I found interesting is when we stopped for fuel my bike with trailer used the same amount as my wife's F3 with no trailer. I made the wiring so I could remove the harness when I removed the hitch so there is no sign that the bike has a hitch.

:thumbup:So does that mean you did it all without "trailer mode"? Thought that was part of progamming for nanny. You may physically have hitch & trailer but the performance is the added question..

Trailer mode is only for the 998s with the centrifugal clutch. None of the 1330s have trailer mode as its not necessary to protect the clutch.

Trailer mode is to protect the slipper clutch on SE5 and SE6. It also reprograms the anti lock brakes. With the SM5 or 6 the rider has to keep the revs up and think.

There were no performace issues at all. Prior to going to Spyder in the Smokies I went from Knoxville to Bushtec in Jacksboro on the big road took the bike with trailer up to 85 mph to see if there were going to be any issues with the trailer attached. This bike has so much torque that it would be easy to forget you had a trailer attached. My trailer is Bushtec Roadstar which was loaded to the max with 30# tongue weight. I use a fish scale to measure and adjust the tongue weight. For me I find that 30 - 35 lbs of tongue weight works best for this trailer. Have had this trailer behind a Goldwing and three different Harleys.

I really appreciate your feedback and performance report on this hitch. Bushtec says it isn't available yet, do you have a feel for when it will become available? Do you have any pictures? Im an old Goldwinger (had 4) and I sure miss having the trailer behind me.
Thanks, Ken

I've ordered one of the hitches - I can confirm that they're available. Would I be better off with one of the Bushtec trailers, or one of the Can-Am trailers? I don't know much about trailers in general - never mind ones for motorcycles.

Due to round frame vs square frame?

I have had many different motorcycle trailers over the past 20 years and for me the Bushtec trailers are the best and have a second to none suspension. If you get a Bushtec trailer you will need to get the wiring setup from Electrical Connection or Bushtec to go from 3 wire on bike to 4 wire on the Bushtec trailer. A 3 wire trailer will only require you to get the isolater. This is a good time of the year to look for used trailers.
