F3 suspension

Good morning, all.

I was able to actually sit on an F3 this weekend and find I am a bit troubled by the suspension. I push the scales at 240. Not a lightweight, true, but not grossly heavy. When I settled in, the body seemed to sink like a stone. Is that normal? Is the rear suspension adjustable? Also, I'd like to ride with my wife on occasion, but I worry that our combined weight will cause serious issues (we hit about 500 together). Might you folks be able to give me some insight as to weight capacity? Am I gaining anything in that area if I go RT?

Thank you in advance.
Aaron

It depends on the model.
The high rent district F3s have an air bag suspension that you can adjust by placing more air in.
I have the stock F3No Designation and am thinking about a heaver shock spring for the back.

Having just come off an RT Limited and now on an F3 Limited, I'd say the F3 L is a great one up bike and I weigh 220. It sounds like you and your wife are not little folks and I can't imagine she'd be comfortable on the back of an F3.

Before making a decision, take an F3 for an extended ride. Be sure to have your wife on the back for this ride. Then, take out the RT. Ask her what she likes.

Decision made.

The stock rear shock probably bottoms out with your weight! The factory heavy duty might work for you and the wife. [ my mech and I stood on the pegs and jumped up and down and could not make the replacement bottom out.]

With my wife and me on the bike we're pushing combined close to 475/480 and we don't bottom out with the 2 up shock, so go for it!!!:doorag:

Having had my F3-S for 3 weeks now.....and 1800 miles in that time.....for the last 2 weeks a new heavier shock.....the ride is so much better 2 up on our UK roadsPhoto0912.jpg

How do you add air?

i have the f3 limited special yes it has an air bag i usually run 40 lbs in rides great i am also 40 lbs heavier than u dont ride two up much but when i do i have no problem

I have a new F3 and want to check the air ... mine is spongy.

I can't find it in the manual ... tried to look twice and also searched. Thanks.

call me ill help you 317-339-2962 kevin

Thanks ... another lifeline from Spyderlovers.com called and left me instructions. I got it done ... I added 42 # and it had 0 to start with. I was going to ride 2 up for the first time and was worried that it was too soft.

This group is awesome ... I'll keep the newbie questions coming.

So you were jumping and standing on the passenger Pegs?:dontknow:

Catalog doesn't show an f3 shock option. What did you use?
If you phone them.....tell them what model.....they ask if mostly solo or 2 up......then weights of each passenger.....how you mostly ride......and then make shock to suit. Since fitting it handles so much better. All one price £350 including VAT & delivery.
Delivered in a couple of days....fitted myself in less than an hour.

Thanks for this. I have the '2 up' shock on and it's a lot better than stock but this would be a good option to go to the next level. Certainly more cost effective than importing Eelka to the uk.

When we brought my wife's F3 Ltd home, I checked and the air suspension had no air in it:yikes::yikes::yikes:.

Pumped it to 40lbs and improved an already great ride.:yes:
