• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

F3-L Customer Auxilliary Circuit

I have installed the Lamonster power plate and am now looking at installing the mirror turn lights. The problem I have is that I can not find the labelled "customer auxiliary circuit" that should be under the left inspection panel. I have had a Garmin 590 installed by the dealer, and I am wondering if that is the circuit they would use to wire in the Garmin, which is why I can't find it. Can anyone shed any light?

When you take off the left inspection panel look for a wrapped wire bundle (about the size of a finger) with a smaller wrapped wire attached to it. This smaller wire just ends.

That smaller wrapped wire is what you're looking for. Follow it up and look for a white label attached to it. The label says, "Customer accessory power" or something like that.

There ya have it.

If your Garmin is powered with the key turned on but the engine not running, it's not powered off the accessory circuit you are looking for. The left accessory circuit is only 'live' when the engine is running.

If installed correctly the GPS is wired to a plug down by the passenger foot peg on the brake caliper side. You can't see this as it's under plastic, but this plug is powered with just the key turned on. It's the only one that is.

As for finding the left side one, it is much easier to locate with the whole left panel removed - the big body coloured one - as well as the safety card panel. 4 torx and 3 plastic pop up plugs to undo. I'll try and find a thread in here with some good pics of where it is.

Thanks Monkeyboy.....the Garmin does indeed power on when I first turn the key, so it looks like it's powered from the plug near the foot peg, which probably means the customer accessory circuit is still available. I'll take the side panel off and have a gooooood look.

Thanks Copperman. I could see it on Lamont's video, but not on my F3. I didn't want to take the side panel off unless necessary, but I will now. I'll have my wife standing by with a search party in case I can't find my way back out again.....:)

The panels on the F3 are a piece of cake compared to the panels on the RT. You'll be just fine.

Found it -well hidden

Thanks very much guys. I never would have found it without taking the side panel off. The end of it had been zip tied tightly to another cable behind the side panel, and while the label was beneath the top inspection panel, you couldn't see any part of it because it was under all the other cabling and also tightly zip tied.

Snip the bottom zip tie......and there it is and the label is visible.....I guess they don't want us amateurs getting at it easily. ;):)
