F3 Foot U-fit Position and my thoughts

I have a 2016 F3 Limited and it came stock with the foot positions set at Three (3), i thought that i would be more comfortable with the setting at Five (5), i am 5'11', i decide to try a different position so i bought the #4 & #5 link (SE6) and here is what i found.

# 3 link is 17" long and each size up or down is + or - 2 inches.

After I installed the # 4 link I immediately knew that the # 5 link would be too far away for me for comfort.

The # 4 link is comfortable but will take me a little time getting used to, but I feel confident that i will remain with it.

I was surprised by how much difference that you would get with just a 2" change.

This is just my thoughts that i wanted to share.

Hi Joe!
Just for fun: did you ever try hte U-Fit system set up in the #2 position?
(Just thinking that a set of highway pegs out front would work well with it like that...
What is your inseam?

What is your inseam?

31" inseam

I would be comfortable with either floorboards or pegs on an F3, I would not be comfortable with both installed because i think they would get in each others way.

Position # 2 would bring my legs back too far.

:D My chassis is running the same 31" inseam...
When I tinkered around the with "U-Fit Test Mule" at my dealers: I had a really tough time deciding between positions 2 & 3... :dontknow:
I thought that #4 was too much of a reach for the brake pedal; but that's just me! :D

Something Different?

I have the 5th (furthest) foot peg position and the short-reach bar, and foot pegs (no floorboards.)
With the OEM driver's backrest, I feel like I'm sitting in a recliner. :2thumbs:
(5'10"/30" inseam)

I'm a real believer in the model they have at the dealership to "Fit" U into the Spyder. Good system!

I wouldn't mind seeing a position 6 option. There are quite few of us tall ryders out there. 6'4", 36" inseam.

I drilled holes 30mm further forward from the position 5 holes and made up a new brake rod. And now it's the best fitting bike I've ever owned.

Agree...

Much like the seats on other models that also only move you 2" back but that wiggle room can make all the difference. I was surprised....

I found a pair of BRP F3 floorboards cheap on Ebay last year, Floorboards really made a difference in comfort. You can pretty much put your feet in any position. Heads up, the bolts to take the foot pegs off are a real b*tch to get off.

Currently, my wife's 16F-3L is stock at #3 and I'm exploring #2 or going straight to #1 for my vertically challenged wife.

How tall is she?
My Missus is 5'1", and the #1 foot position, with the bars that come back toward her the farthest; just seemed to fit like a glove!

Mine is at #3 and I have a 29" inseam. It's good for positioning the brake pedal, but when just riding along my heels hang off the back of the floor-board. I'm thinking of adding the 3rd pegs so I can stand while on long rides because the board doesn't come back far enough.

You might want a set of Lamont's boards: they are quite a bit longer...

Yeah, they are brilliant for taller riders, Bob.....in position #5, with Lamont's RIP boards, the size 15's hanging off the end of a 38" inleg are as far forward as they can go without actually touching the fenders. Add/modify a pair of his highway pegs off the RIP boards and it's leg "heaven"

Like Cruzr Joe I'm 5 11 as well. The demo model f3 I sat on had thenough pegs at the three position and It felt good. Before picking up the new f3 in reviewing the can am ufitsystem.com site, for my measurements suggested the 4 position . I called the dealer and told him I wanted them at the 4 postion. When I rode the bike it went from feeling good to feeling great !
