F3 compared to Ltd

Hi.

I test rode a Ltd last year and though I thought it was fab, I found the cornering characterisitics a bit strange. So this Monday I'm test riding the F3, is it much different to the Ltd in corners?

great forum.

Dramatic difference. The center of gravity is 8 inches lower.. It will feel like you sit in the bike instead of on it. It handles much better and corners tighter.. Total different experience. I own both so get to compare them weekly..

The answer depends on your riding style but the F3 is the "Bad Boy" in the Spyder range,
I love mine and after 50+ years of motorcycling I found the transition fairly easy.

Nice one, thanks guys.

I'm coming from a bike backround so fingers crossed it will work out on the test ride on Monday.

Ant.....The F3 is very much better suited to driving on UK roads than the RT (IMHO!)
As a biker you'll discover that almost immediately.
If you ride from Aberystwyth to Rhayader on the mountain road you'd see why!

As an RS-S rider, I would encourage you to consider that as well...the ergonomics are closest to a sport bike, if that is what you're used to.

I know the road well, but alas the bike will live in Spain.

9:00 tomorrow, can't wait for the test ride!

F3 way more comfortable and fun to ride

I had a 2013 RT LTD, I tried to love the bike however it was not fun to ride. The RT seemed to have a mind of its own, riding required always being on guard for unpredictable handling. My RT LTD seemed to almost fight itself and I can best describe it as twitchy. I took the bike back to the dealer a couple of times and was told the handling was normal and get used to it. My first time sitting on the F3 I fell in love with the riding position. I purchased a F3 several weeks ago and have zero regrets. The F3 is fun to ride, I often go out just to ride with no set destination. The only thing that comes to mind for negatives is the wind, which I can do something about, and the vibration which for me is a minor annoyance and can be handled by changing my speed. I am a huge supporter of the F3.

F3 vs RT

After trying both F3 and RT, here is how I would do a comparison : The F3 is the "Corvette" Spyder, lighter, lower centre of gravity than the RT making it corner and perform better, and because being lighter it will lay down rubber easy if pushed. The RT is the "Cadillac" Spyder, heavier, comes with all the bells and whistles to make it "touring friendly", still has good power (same 1330 engine), won't lay rubber but still has good acceleration off the line, little higher center of gravity so it does not corner like F3, but still quite manageable, very comfortable and enjoyable to drive.
For those of you that are into snowmobiling, the RT is the "Grand Touring" model and the F3 is the "Renegade" model.
So take your pick and enjoy !
