F3 Can Am recommended 21K mi valve clearance check

I have 2016 F3T CA recommends checking engine valve clearance inspection at 21K mi. This is a major operation and very expensive. Has anyone done done this and is it really necessary other than supporting you friendly spyder deanship? Honda Goldwing recommends same check at 36K mi no big deal but pricey. Have friends with over 100K on wings and never checked valve clearance.

Really. ...😲

The 1330 engine does not need valve adjustments or checks. Don't let anyone talk you into this...:lecturef_smilie:

Someone is pulling your leg and if it is a mechanic at your dealer you should run quickly to another one. As Chupaca said, there is no valve adjustment required on the 1330 engine.

The ACE 1330 engine has hydraulic valve lifters. That's why there is no adjustment needed/required. As Ann said, if a dealer tech or service guy told you, run--fast--to another dealer.

Thanks to all who replied F3 equipped with "bucket lifter adjustment" similar to goldwing and many other modern metrics with mechanical lifters. Just wanted to know if anyone actually had this operation performed by a dealership. Unfortunately too many Can Am Dealers don't know the first thing about Spyders beyound changing oil and filters. Their service techs for the most part suck and tell big lies if they don't know the answers. I blame this on BRP you get the same results from their "experts" if you are lucky enough to get through to them on highly guarded secure lines and email reserved for only dealer access. Best technical help for Can AM Spyders I found are the guys on forums like this... they tell i like it is.

Didn't do it on my wing either 99000 miles won't do it on my 2017 F-3 limited or the wives 2014RSS:yes:

hydraulic lifters are a big plus on the 1330.
As far as not adjusting valves if it's called for-to me that's a risk. If no adjustment is needed I can see stretching out the time to do a check again, but I can't see ignoring the issue.
On some bikes (like the 1500 Wing), valve adjustments are not hard at all and takes maybe 20 min.
The 1800 Wings are much more difficult.
Many think you can hear valves out of adjustment. That is true only for loose valves.
You cannot hear a valve that is too tight and that can cause serious problems like burned valves
Glad to have a 1330 and my valve adjustments are behind me.

:agree: x 1000. Whoever gave you the information is WRONG, WRONG, WRONG. First of all the mileage is wrong. It used to be recommended at 14,000 mile intervals--not 21,000. The new 1330 engine (2014 and above) does not recommend or require valve checks ever. They were not needed in most cases on the 998's.

I had them done on my 2008 at 14K, on my 2010 at 28K and both times I spent $800 extra for nothing. I have chose NOT to do it on my 2011 and at 28K it is doing just fine thank you. My 2014 (1330) is doing fine at 28K with none.

If your information came from a dealer, he is either grossly misinformed--or just a lousy crook. If it came from other--choose your friends wisely.:yes:
