• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

F3 Auto or Manual-which is faster

I assume the auto would be as it appears from threads I have read that you still get Tire spin from a standing start with the auto,so the clutch packs must be pretty tight and grippy. But how much better ?Anybody rode both and compared performance.

The gear boxes on both the manual and semi are identical. The only difference between the clutches on both is the semi is computer controlled and the manual is driver controlled.

No clutch packs

To start, welcome to SpyderLovers. For your question, you can not manually shift your Spyder faster than the electronic shift mechanism. That is simply a fact. Hope that helps.

SHIFT SPEED

...My experience from Drag Racing with the Semi- auto and the Manual.......Semi-auto, no question -- you can go full power with the semi-auto and just keep hitting the paddle ...no let-up on the gas....Plus it's mis-take free....you just have to watch the revs.........................Mike

Thanks for all the replys guys.I did not realize it was just a standard transmission with a computer controlled pressure plate and clutch.so almost just like having a quick shifter.

Not sure that's a "fact". I'd agree if it were a DCT or a PDK, but I don't believe it is a dual clutch. Additionally, you can do full throttle (no lift) shifts with the manual whereas the semi will cut the rpm at each shift. I was the overall RT drag champion at the 2012 Spyderfest and no semi was even close to my manual times. (and that was on my wife's RT that I had seldom ever ridden) I am not disputing that you may be right, but I'm not sure it is simply a "fact".

As I see it...

Depends who's driving. ..:lecturef_smilie:how good are you with a manual...:dontknow:

SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET......... BUT

..In 2014, I was :firstplace:in the RS / GS stock class and took 3rd over-all which included ALL the modified Spyders .....Oh and this was with a SEMI-AUTO......Mike

One of my motorcycles has a DCT. I'm pretty sure the DCT could beat the best time I could put up on my manual Spyder. I'm also sure a professional could do much better on the manual, but that's not the skill level most of us have to use.

If you are capable of a "Perfect" shift, every time: it'd be a draw...
Are you that good?

The "ESSIE" will win!

Point is, the RS-S is the fastest Spyder as it is the lightest. If one wants better performance, drop 50 lbs off the rider. Never seen fat motorcycle racing! :yikes:

Have a F3 manual. At the drags last year, it was best two out of three. Beat a semi-auto two times in a row. Didn't win the finals but it was fun racing.

It depends on the rider which gear system is fastest. :doorag:

Welcome aboard. Good question. The answer depends on your particular machine, the skill of the driver, and what wind defying accessories that may be installed on your particular spyder.

I agree
Depends on driver and skill level.

You can power shift with the manuals and never touch clutch or throttle

Both can be pretty quick

POWER SHFTING

On a Manual ....Yes, but for how long ?????:dontknow:......................On my Semi-auto I think forever .....jmho....Mike
