• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

F1 Windshield Issue

Well I ordered the F1 from Marcel. It was a perfect height for me...22" high but one of the holes was at least a 1/4 inch off, plus the bottom of the shield was different on each side. Marcel promised a shipping label on Tuesday and a new windshield by the end of the week to accomodate a trip. I just got off the phone with his wife who said they are getting ready to make the new one! So much for the end of the week. I totally understand why everyone loves this new shield put I totally agree with a post on the other Spyder sight which basically states that even though customer service is good and Marcel is a heck of a nice guy, at some point this really should become a bolt on item like the other shields. At this point, I will wait for another aftermarket company to come out with a Spyder shield. It had really not been too bad since most of my riding has been in town and through the mountains. It was not even bad at 85 on the highway between Denver and Colorado Springs.

I agree. No matter how great the customer service or the design, each and every windshield should fit perfectly.

I have a Mel's Monster Garage shield on the way. I have a F1 now. Ok but fit off and was told to slot the hole to make fit. Not good buiness to me. I have seen one guy comment on Mel's that it was good

Hi and Hello COSpyder2499,
I feel very sorry that you did not get your free exchange windshield on time.
Like I told you on the phone, I will try to get it done for you as soon as possible but I can not promise that I can do it that fast.
I have made you a new windshield already but it is just not ready to ship. All the screens have to be "Dry Out"
for at least 4 days. This is what my wife try'd to tell you before you told here, that "you not need it anymore".
I am wondering, why you not use it until the other one was delivered to you.

But anyway, I am sure that the windshield you already have could be very easy to "get fixed" and ready to go for your long trip and after that your new windshield would be ready for you.
So what can I say.....
If you do not work with us together, there is not much I can do for you.

Also you did fergot to mention, that my wife offered you a full refund of your money.

I have manufactured more than 700 Spyder Windshields alone and there are sold in Europe, Canada and of course
here in to the US. Out of the 700 plus Windshields I have manufactured, I had 9 Windshields where the holes did not line up to a 100%.
Reason for that was:

I TOOK THEM TO EARLY OUT OF THE DRY CHAMBER !!!!!

If the holes did not match and it was fixable, my Customers did it with no problems,
if it did not work out, I did send them of course a free replacement Windshield like I told you, I will do for you.

I surely can understand that you are not happy with the situation but at least try to understand that we did our best to get your new Windshield ready for you on time.

Thank you very much and regards,
Marcel July

Marcel,

You said to ship the shield back when we talked because the holes are sooooo far off, they would be way too big for the screws. To make them fit, I would need screws with a head about the size of a nickel. You also told me to not worry, you would have a new one to me. You never told me about a 4 day dry period, etc. If there is a 4 day dry period, then there would have been no way you could have gotten it to me anyway. Additionally, you got the last one to me in about 4 days from the time I ordered. Is that why the bottom right and left don't match? Maybe this one was not dried long enough either.

I told your wife that I needed it for my trip so it would not do me any good after that. She did not offer me a full refund, I asked her for one. She said she would send a shipping label when I got back from my trip.

I can post the photos here if you would like showing just how off the shield is...from the shape of the bottom to the placement of the holes. This is not a new issue, it has been discussed over and over on both sites. Almost everyone on the canamtalk site who has posted about this has said they have to get a dremmel to make the sheild work. I was given advice by numerous F1 owners on how to use a grinder to MAKE the shield fit. That doesn't work for me. We have owned bikes for years and all the windshields we have ever bought have always been bolt ons with no issues. One of your posts on canamtalk say that every fairing that the shield posts to is different but if that was really the case, how could we all buy the Canam touring sheild and just bolt it on. Most folks don't like it but nobody has complained that it didn't fit!

I know your customer service is good. I just don't need the shield for the type of riding I do around the state, I just needed it for my trip which starts on Monday. I appreciate your response and I will send the shield back as soon as you send the label. Thank you in advance for the refund.
