• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Eye in the sky

Street view

To my surprise on Google Street View my garage door is open with my Spyder in plain view along with the other items in my garage. That will be very handy for burglars. They can make a shopping list first. Just as a warning for those with bad intentions, there is a police officer living across the street.

Let Google take a picture of me out in the driveway with a sidearm and giving their satellite the one-digit salute... :gaah:

Officers Smith and Wesson are protecting my stuff. Its scarry the stuff we can find these days just using things like Google maps.

Those 2 guys can do pretty fair job of taking care of business.
I might prefer a different helper (Sam Colt); but the idea is the same...

That's something I did not consider. I never thought they would be driving down the roads and taking pictures from a car. I live on an obscure side road a bit off the beaten path here in AK. I did google my area and yes, they have been here in force. Big Brother is really watching.

Google has a beautiful shot of my home from my front road and several days ago I saw this weird panel truck with a huge antenna on top drive by...slowly. It had a camera apparatus attached on top and it moved back and forth as they drove along. My neighbor said they are taking photos for Google. They also have a great shot from space too....it shows my whole spread.

However, we are in south Texas and technology is not one of our strong points....one in the car/truck, two knock on your front door and if you answer, they ask for Mr. Jones....oh, you don't know him...sorry... You don't answer, they go around the back and kick in the door...and carry your stuff out the garage or front door as the driver backs up to your home....gone is 5 minutes....

A local rancher with a line shack on his ranch rigged up a shotgun pointed at the door and set to go off when opened by burglers....one did and had a bad day...his family sued the rancher and won and he was prosecuted for rigging a dangerous trap. Welcome to our world.....

:spyder2:

The news tonight. Car "black boxes" will be manditory soon. The news quoted the figure that 96 % of cars already have them.
the book was right, just the year was wrong, 1984.

Believe me when I say there's more goes on in the "observation" world than most people know about. Google earth is small beans. However, it has been used by some agencies for their benifit.

One of the original test units had a voice recorder in a Chevy pickup, sold in Georgia. When they pulled the truck from the river and played the voice recorder, they heard, "Here, hold my beer and watch this!"

"WHEN SECONDS COUNT, THE POLICE ARE ONLY MINUTES AWAY"....
too bad Canadians aren't allowed to protect their own property... best of luck my friend...

I was a straight leg RTO 46 years ago [Nam] And i was amazed at how actuate the photos taken the night [infrared]before we moved out of what was in front of us the next day,
And like i said that was 46 years ago.

I'm not trying to drag this into a political discussion or anything... But do you think if they quit looking at all of us;they might actually be able to find the time and money to fix some REAL problems?? :gaah:

Seems like an invasion of privacy to some degree... doesn't it? I am amazed someone hasn't tried to fight these "pictures".

On a more "fun" note... there was a site somewhere I ran across that had all kinds of strange pics from google-earth and google street-view.

There were a few caught nude sun-tanning, one guy puking as he walked out of a bar, and yet another running into another car. The list seemed endless.

Streetview has me riding past on my VFR. This isn't the first time. They also got me back in 04 or 05 with me getting ready to get on my SV650. If you have privacy concerns, like your child was photographed on the front lawn, you can submit a request to Google to have your photo removed. (I did the first time, since I didn't have my helmet on yet and you could tell it was me). They removed the photo and blurred out the next one from further up the street.
