• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Extremely Disturbing-No Joke!

A very graphic reason for wearing proper gear. This HOAR (Hop On And Ride) learned the hard way after getting low sided. Really caught my attention.

Been around....

graphic it is but brings to light what happens in real life. Studies show that in full gear (racing bikes on a pro track) the protection on a high speed fall is about 7 seconds. Most riders in a fall aim towards the center or side where there is grass. Not much in the Isle on Mann. These pictures are from more than just a fall more like a slide with the rider trapped under the bike....:yikes:

De-Gloving

That's the term for that type of injury. The skin has been removed as in removing a glove. I imagine many months of skin grafting was involved afterword in order to save that foot.

"De-gloving"...

I hadn't heard that term before.

And I hope that I never hear it being used, when referencing my own old carcass! nojoke

You're absolutely right. I talked with the ridged who sent me the picture. The rider experienced a tank slapper and got low sided with his foot caught under the bike-no idea if the foot was saved or not. Horrible results from a very poor decision.

I have always held the belief that before ANY type of license is issued to anyone that a mandatory two separate weekend shifts shadowing an emergency room physician in a level one emergency center should be mandatory. The things you would see nicely drive home the point of restraints in cars and ATGATT with bikes. :lecturef_smilie::thumbup:nojoke

While I can certainly understand some folks being upset by the picture; it sure helps to drive home the point that there's a good reason fro dressing properly for a ride...
Personally; even I found it tough to look at... and I'm a longtime deer hunter, with a Dad who's got a weak stomach, and can't field-dress a carrot! :D

If it had been me...
I'd have posted a link to where the picture could be found....
In fact; that's what I did once... But the pic that I had was not nearly as indicative of what damage could be done!

But; it's still a very good message. nojoke

I've seen similar pictures previously. They come to mind everytime I see someone riding in shorts and flip flops. Very sad.

I'm in the gang that believes we've grown too politically correct over the years. That picture should be conspicuously posted in every motorcycle dealership parts and accessories department. If it saves one rider such an injury it's done its job.
