• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I've wanted a spyder since the first time I saw one.......back in 2009 I believe. I'm finally getting an F3-S SE6 on the 11th and I am WAY excited. It will mainly be something to putter back and forth to work on and probably some desolate back road riding as well. My question is should I get the 2 yr extended warranty? I have seen that some people have had issues with the F3 and I know it has only been out for less than a year so there might be more issues to come. Looking forward to being a spyder owner!!

In the Yamaha world, one can purchase an extended warranty at any dealership in the USA (except Florida having idiotic laws against it). There were well known dealerships that "everyone" bought their warranty from because of the very favorable pricing compared to everyone else for the exact same product (not to mention many fly & ride home bike purchases for the same reason.)

Is there any target price to expect when negotiating the warranty, or better yet, a known "cheapest" price dealership to do business with?

Bert's Mega Mall in Covina California has always been mentioned as having the best price. You do not need to purchase the extended warranty at the time of purchase. Best warranty can be purchased as long as your spyder is under warranty.
 
Extended warranty =s Peace of Mind

Wouldn't be without the extended warranty....not because there are so many issues...but if you have an issue, working on our "beloved" Spyders is pricey...Yep wouldn't be without it..:thumbup:

just to have a difference of opinions, I didn't. I rode till my manufacturer warranty came close to ending, at which point you can still buy it, and not having had any problem rode on. I do my own work and have my own sources for parts etc and faith in the machine and myself. But as Bob said how much is your peace of mind worth. Jmo buying at time of purchase will always be cheaper so best work it in then if your budget allows. Congrats on your new ryde..:2thumbs:

I did the same... Purchased the extended warranty with 1 month left on the original. BUT... I was able to get it at about 1/2 of the "rolled in" price at separate dealer. IMO, you should at least get a quote from Burt's as ammo to deal...

I got a 3 year extended warranty when I bought my 2011 RS-S SE5 and it saved me over $2,000.00 in repair bills.

Always a personal decision but I tend to agree. Consumer reports has suggested to not by extended warranties....that most people never use them and it is just more profit for the dealer. It also depends how many miles you put on and if you have had problems....then get the warranty before the initial one expires.

I purchased the extended on my last bike......and with no issues....you could say it was a waste of money.

If I end my 3 years with no issues....I probably wont buy one, if I have issues then I would certainly consider it.

Curious.....are there and exclusions / not covered items for the BEST extended warranty ? :hun:
 
:agree: with SpyderAnn. Check to see if BRP is offering a freebie. I got 2 extra years when I bought the 2014.

Does not hurt to ask the dealer to sweeten the pot either.

My F3 and vehicles bought under the yellow tag event get 2 years warranty and 2 years roadside assistance, I wouldn't think of buying the extended warranty UNTIL I get near the end of the 2 years!:ohyea:
 
Congrats on your new Spyder. I was lucky when I bought my Spyder as it has extended warranty on it till March 2017. :yes:
