Extended warranty

Shop around for price as most dealers will honor another dealers lower pricing. Bert's Mega Mall a Spyderlovers sponsor offers great pricing on the BEST warranty.

I just traded in my 2010 RT during Spyderfest as it had a mechanical failure that would have required us to stay in Springfield for several days or to fly home and back again. Since I had the BEST coverage Len was willing to take it on a trade with 59,000 miles. He will fix it under the warranty and sell it with 2 years remaining on the extended coverage. I shudder to think what would have happened if I didn't have the extended warranty. It is pretty doubtful that I would have been able to get a new machine.
HREAD

AND NOT TO STEAL THE THREAD, WHAT TYPE OF CATASTROPHIC FAILURE DID YOU EXPERIENCE @ 59k???

RPM warranty

I was calling around to get different quotes. The motorcycle mall quoted me $1,099 for three-year warranty. And I called another dealer and he quoted me around the same 1100 from BRP for three years. Then he mentioned an RPM. Warranty for 4 years same coverage as BRP no deductible for $800. Has anyone heard of RPM warranty

My experience with third part warranties is that they are ok, but not as speedy as the OEM one. I blew up a motor on a Dodge Caravan. I had the Geico extended warranty. Everything eventually got replaced and paid for, but there was delay because Geico wanted to inspect pieces before authorizing repairs.

I'll bet you can get the BRP from Bert's (site sponsor) for the $749 for 3 years. I would check them out. Also there is a company called Western Service Contract Corp I would like to know more about but can't find anything.

I purchased a extended warranty from Vanessa at Pitbull during Spyderfest. She can be reached at [email protected].

I got my 3 yr extended warranty today, based on your recommendation, from Beth at Pitbull Powersports. She did a price match on Berts Mega Mall and beat it. Price is $745. Nice people to deal with. Ken PS: My local dealer that sold me my spyder a few weeks ago wanted 1100 dollars...no budge. He beat everyone's price on the new cam am spyder limited ($27000) OTD, but would not negotiate on the warranty. Go figure.

Their ad is on the home page. Be sure and tell them you are a spyderlovers.com member. I think there is a discount. Let us know what you find out.

I did contact them, they must be on drugs. He quoted me $1,549 for 3 years.:roflblack::roflblack: That's highest quote I got thus far.

I just bought mine a month ago from a dealer about five miles from me...

...he originally quoted me about $1500 for three years (I also bought the Spyder from him at the same time). I told him I was going to buy it from Bert's online and asked him if he could match the price. He looked at the ad here on SL and saw that he had it advertised for $749 for three years and matched it for me.

You could try the same thing - the worst they can do is say no.

If he's no longer honoring that price, he really should remove it here - it says in the posting that it will be honored (I did NOT call/email to ask, just took him at his word and showed the ad to my dealer).

Good luck!!!

There is something screwy there. In the vendor section he has it listed for $749 for 3 years and says the price does not expire. It is for all Spyderlovers.com members. :dontknow:

I just talked to Bert's. They quoted me $1299 for an OEM warranty extension for 3 years. A 3rd party 3-year would be $999.

I don't know about that place. I used their call director and never got to anyone, so I used the code for sales, and an operator answered and transferred me to the finance guy.

I always feel a little dirty after talking to the finance guys. :(

There's one on EBay for $796:

I don't understand why you are fussing. Call Beth at Pitt Bull Motorsports, Springfield, MO and tell her you want the price match of $745, as she sold it to me this morning. They are out to move products and make money. Don't screw with those that don't honor their word. Beth can be called at 417-863-1418. They have the best price, why screw around with the others?

I called Beth yesterday evening at Pitt Bulls. I got the 3-year extended warranty for $745 and we did all this over the phone. She is going to mail me all my information. Thank you guys for your help.:clap::clap:

I need to call my local dealer and see what they say... then I bet I call Beth and order it from Pitt Bull.

I've asked myself about the extended warranty. I had it with my first spyder. It paid for itself. However, and I'm throwing this out for discussion, I decided not to opt for the extended warranty on my 2013. (at least for right now).

My thoughts are that I hope to trade up every two years. I figure that it will cost me about $8,000.00 over the two years to do this. That's 4 K per year. That's roughly $350.00 a month over the two year period of time. My spyder "TO ME" is worth $350.00 a month of enjoyment. During that two year period of time I have the manufacturer warranty to rely on.

At the time that I get ready to trade (prior to the two years running out) and I negotiate with my dealer, then I can suggest getting the extended warranty for them to resell.

All of my thinking is based on just what my riding a new spyder is worth to me. Has nothing to do "a deal" or any of that stuff.

Chris (Edited: PS: In my drinking and smoking days I was paying far more than $350.00 per month to support those two habits/addictions.)

Well, that is good thinking. If you are going to buy it anyway, for resale, then why not buy it now at the bargain basement price. Some add an additional $225 penalty for waiting beyond the 60 period, and the price in 2 years could be considerably higher (or not). IMHO, today's price is a fair price.

I'm considering an extended warranty, though, as a rule, I never get them. With the Spyder being more complex than most machines, I think it might be "warranted" to get.

But I've been learning about the options and would like your reactions.

I hear the BEST warranty has a $50 deductable - per problem. So, if you go to the dealer with 3 problems, the deductable would be $150. It also is only useable at Spyder dealers.

The finance guy at Reno's in Kansas City suggested a $950 3rd party warranty for 5 years (after the OEM warranty expires) that has no deductable and can be used at any service provider. He also says it cover some things the BEST warranty does not. He emailed the info on it, but I have not compared the coverages myself, yet.

My RTS' original warranty will expire in July '13. I don't really know how long I'll be keeping my Spyder. I can't afford to trade in the foreseeable future, and, so far, I have no reason or desire to do so. (I'm waiting for the "next big thing" that will make me want to upgrade.)

What do ya'll think?
