• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Exhaust smell

My wife bought a 2009 off of a friend. It has around 37,000 miles on it. It is in excellent condition. However when I ride it, often times I get a strong smell of exhaust. My wife never complained until recently, when she said it seemed to be getting stronger. It does have an after market muffler and larger windshield that the previous owner installed. I've wondered if somehow the taller windshield was causing a bit of a vacuum effect.
Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

thanks

You got it....

That windshield is the culprit. Probably a combination. Don't know the exhaust model but have seen this before. :gaah:

It's most likely the windshield...
But you might want to check out the exhaust O-rings; replace them with ones from Honda!

Not sure what exhaust you have, it may very well be the windscreen.

In the past there was a member that removed his catalytic converter and installed a bypass pipe. His stars aligned and his wife noticed the exhaust smell. Everyone is different and apparently she was sensitive to noticing the smell and had to reinstall the cat. Not a bad thing, just some things bother certain folks while others don't notice.

Before modding the exhaust, maybe see if a small change to the windscreen may help. Anything that may lessen the entrapped return airflow.

You could try a simple flat hanger bracket, to lower your exhaust closer to parallel with the ground. It may allow the exhaust to escape before you can smell it.
