So I over filled my oil tank by a 3/4 of a quart and so my roommate came up with vacuum setup on a oil container that was guineas record level and so we continued on to my louder than I am sure my neighbors like exhaust which had some mild use on it.... I would like this chance to say that if you deal with leo vince over the phone on warranty issue they will try to do anything possible not to help you out. I call them 2 days after my one year was up and they gave me the run around in short they said cause I hit a deer on my bike that it damaged my exhaust on the side the deer had no part of and they would not warranty it even if I was in the timeline of warranty.

Wow. That is just LAME. Sorry to hear this Seth. And of all the cans out there that are now available for the Spyder, The Vince is about the most expensive one on the market. You would think they might show a little compassion for a customer and help out. :dontknow:

And now, after hearing this, I am officially crossing them off my list. My Hindle has seen better days and I was actually thinking about going with the Vince as a replacement, but not any more. That kind of arrogance is unacceptable. Thanks for posting this.

I do hate to say this but their exhaust was the longest lasting one I have, its just the big twin pulse rate that beats them up, even at a underpowered level. really annoying for sure. And of course the rivet gun broke, there was not enough packing in one pack, i believe you will need three.

It is very disappointing that a couple of empolyee's that vance's company burned them in on this, I am sure they do not get too many warranty issues but this was totally mishandled, so I guess that is what they wanted to do at the end of the day, the true last straw was the guy I talked to there last said he would call me back with a scratch and dent can they had around or figure out what they can do and he did not.

HMF !
:2thumbs:

You can get an HMF for $225 ($100 more for carbon fiber). Even if you have to replace it once every year or two--- it's pretty cheap to do.

I would have went that route more and more I think about it. I thought when I heard "I have not heard of anyone breaking one seth, but if anyone can do it, it will be you and we will replace it" ~Evoizone

I am over the warranty but it was not used for 4 or 5 months of that year. It just adjusts who I sent people to and who I buy from.

My wrench roommate and I got it un F'ed, I had to buy a pneumatic rivet gun to put the SS rivets in, I broke mine trying to put them on. here is a pic of the rebuild. My roommate packed house insulation in the last part.

There have been a few other threads on here where people were asking about the Leo Vince can. I always tell them to send you a PM. Now I can just tell them to search for this thread.

Sorry it seems like you were a test subject for them on this one. :(

they do make a good exhaust but their customer service is not were it should be and for the cost, it should be a complete company.

Bummer on the muffler. Hard to believe the deer incident had anything to do with that failure. Far as the oil overfill, I'm really fussy about my oil level and I saved an empty "Ride-On" bottle with the tygon tubing just for removing excess oil. Find it really hard to get the level right at the "full" mark and don't like it low or overfilled. The "Ride-On" bottle works great. Good luck with the muffler.

I am not real fussy with the amount of oil in the system but a quart is way too much, for those of you who do not know a quart will put you to the top which is too much even by my standards, the deer hit was just a bunch of crap to have a "reason" not to help out.

after the close loss at spyderfest to jim ( damn it) I got back to dirt town and the death machine was a little louder, the grips where coming lose again, a oil change was needed and my airhawk seat had a hole that needed to be patched.

the exhaust has turned the fiberglass in to glass that sounded like sand it, there was only about 1/8 of the packing I put in last month was there.

I put some FMF pink colored packing in and some random white stuff from town. Well it is substantially quieter but is not pulling as well.

If you ever want to know how loud your spyder is run it without a exhaust, I friend of mine helped me by running before I got up,I knew it was loud but not that loud.

Well that looks to be a pretty darn good repair job, Seth! Whatever keeps you on the road, man... So if/when the time comes for a new can, which one are you going to go with? I'm now leaning towards HMF or the Yoshi Oval. I'm only hesitant about the HMF because of the fit issues that others have had. I just don't like the idea of having to modify something that should just bolt right on...

As far as running a straight pipe, I could never get away with that where I live. The neighbors would freak out! I also live too close to the local Police station and they know me! Not in a bad way, though...

i would go with a HMF, the yoshi I blew up didn't last 3k, was a bull**** deal, and not warrantied because it was not "made" for the spyder so if you ride hard it will fail quick. People have said the HMF holds up but I HAVE NOT had one so I can not say for sure it was better.

My HMF is holding up just fine and I beat it pretty good. Considering the non-carbon version is $225 ---- it's a deal!

They do need to make some adjustments to the design to avoid hitting the parking brake-- but otherwise it's a great pipe.

Reminder I need to contact them about that problem....

You know Seth, that is an excellent point about the Yosh Not being built for a V-twin. And yes, I do beat 14 pretty good.

Dan, you seem to have very good insight on the HMF solution, and the knowledge that you have shared (I have reviewed the history) makes me realize that the fit issue, though slightly inconvenient, is not a show-stopper.

I am most likely going to select the HMF when the time comes. I like the Vince, but I am not interested in a company that will not stand behind its product. That said, I may take a shot at fixing the Hindle first. Seth, you kind of inspired me! :D And I think it will be fun to tinker with it.

Hey Wright. Thanks for the input! I have seen them on certain vendor sites but have not seen too much in terms of user fedback. You'll have to keep us posted on how she holds up. Glad it's doing well for you. :ohyea:

i also got the spx and like it,but it was a little too loud so i put a socket in the end to quite it dowen a little and i love the way it sounds now.its will worth the money.will if i dont explane ,thers a hole at the bottom of the muffler so i got one of my sockets ran a bolt threw the socket and put it in the end of the muffler.that closed some of the hole up thus making it a little quiter.:2thumbs::D:chat:

so my exhaust sounded different again and when I looked at it a few days ago I found that the carbon fiber exhaust hanger on my leo vince had broke on the inside so like any in a hurry hillbilly would do, wire that **** up and that is what I did , I will mod some exhaust hanger from one of my many exhaust holders from the bone yard to make it work.
