EXHAUST FUMES???

ok I had the performance kit installed at CowTown and am getting a lot of exhaust fumes while riding. I know it is because of the new muffler but don't know what to do about it (shy of putting the original muffler back on) the bike runs great with the new muffler but fumes might make it not useable???

has anyone else had this happen after having the performance muffler installed???

Yes, some time you get when the right win is blowing and sucks up to your face, I went to an exhaust shop and had them move or should I say add a pice of pipe to move it back 3" back of Sadler bag out to the back and is ok now. Then when I got home I had a hole be pipe made and looks great to. Took them 3trys but it works. I know should had been done from factory, 2bros but they would not do it so I did. Very ease with a good exhaust shop. Ride safe , be well...

Not with a performance muffler but with the stock muffler [08] I had an F1 evo windshield with side wings.
When i would take the wings off the fumes would stop, Evidently the wings on the large F1 would cause a back draft.

we do have baker airwings on and I never thought about that, I might have to take them off and see if that stops it. I would do the extension though because the baker airwings sure do give more air while riding and keeps that air off me in the colder riding season.

I would call Cowtown and get there opinion too !!!

1st I'd call Cowtown & see what they have to say, then as possible suggestions I'd ..

Instead of removing the Baker airwings, why not try readjusting them first. You may find that a little adjustment here or there just might do the trick for you;)

I know the lower set of OEM clear plastic 'wing' diverters from BRP does cause a back draft as well, but not sure how they would effect everything else since you also have the Baker Air Wings in use:dontknow: I removed ours and can tell a difference;)

If nothing else helps, you can also try adding the CAT Shields from SpyderPops as they may help some :dontknow: maybe not, just throwing it out there:dontknow: Good luck and let us know how you get this issue resolved ;)

I called Cowtown and they said they have never heard anyone having a problem like this? they did say that the new mufflers were different but I don't know if that meant the tail pipe went bach further.
I do have to do something to keep the exhaust fumes away,

The problem is not so much with the muffler as it is with the airflow around the Spyder. If you could visualize the airflow you would see that the air actually flows from BACK TO FRONT. On mine it was so violent that bugs would be stuck to the INSIDE of my windshield. I remedied the situation by installing new wind deflectors (the chrome ones from Cowtown). The deflection angle is slightly different than the OEM ones and my exhaust and bug problems went away. I don't have Air-Wings but I think Dave is correct in saying that a small adjustment could fix the problem.:lecturef_smilie:
