• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Exhaust fumes

Had the performance package and Two Brothers Exhaust installed while at Spyderfest. Really like the performance, sound and improved gas mileage. I seem to have more exhaust fumes that I smell while ryding. Is this common? I didn't notice it with the stock exhaust. I've added 2500 miles since installed and still smell the fumes.:dontknow::dontknow::dontknow:

The stock exhaust kicks the outlet down a bit, so the fumes flow a little differently. You are probably getting more back in the backdraft. The only solution I can think of would be to add Baker Air Wings to adjust the air flow a bit.

I did have the Baker Air Wings installed at Spyderfest. I'll play with them tomorrow and see if it helps by changing their direction. Thanks.

Like Scotty said, the large windshield on the RT creates a lot of negative pressure in the riding area. Everything has good and bad aspects. The new exhaust may not get the fumes quite far enough back for them to escape the envelope you create going down the road.

Hopefully the Baker Wings will help.

I assumed the OP had an RS. Not too many RT owners go for a performance exhaust.

More than you might think, it is part of Cowtowns RT performance package. Many of us have had it done.

i had noticed the exhaust fumes even before the change. the 2010 i think is more evident than the 11 and 12 models, BRP changed the lower wind deflectors on the later years models.
Some have people removed these lower defflectors and said it helped, i am considering getting another set and doing some modifications to try and address this issue. My air wings help but do not eliminate the fumes and can be chilling in the cold!

I finally decided to have the Performance Package installed at Spyderfest on my RT, the soonest Cowtown could get it done was on Sunday after the close of SF. They stayed open for several people who either needed some service work or an install done. What a great example of customer service. The package has provided me with better performance, cool sound & improved mileage.

yep having same problem :yikes: and sure don't care for the fumes.

was just getting ready to post..and ask for solution...Have airwings and will take your suggestion Scotty and see if I can find the position that gets me back to wonderful travel smells...heck fresh manure is  compared to exhaust :gaah:..... YumaJim if you find the sweet spot please let me know...

A catalytic converter does not necessarily reduce odor. In some cases it increases it.

With rich fuel conditions, high sulfur gas, and/or a cold or malfunctioning converter you can indeed get that characteristic rotten egg smell, but in general a properly functioning catalytic converter will significantly reduce many typical exhaust smells and toxic emissions including carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons and oxides of nitrogen.

Time for SpyderPops to dream up a little "wickerbill" to move air past the saddlebag and get the fumes out into he airstream. Folks complain about the factory muffler, but as you can see, a lot of thought went into it.

I have the performance package and don't smell any fumes at all. Also have the air wings installed but haven't used them s of yet to push air to the riders.:dontknow:Where are these fumes coming from that don't get caught in the airstream?
