Excessive R leg heat on RS, not RT

Hi Everyone,

I've been dealing with the excessive heat on my right leg for over a year now. I was excited to see the posts on this subject, but found all of the fixes to relate to an RT.

Has anyone come up with an easy and successful fix on the RS -- shield, pipe wrap, whatever.

Have you been experiencing any backfiring? Probably your "Y" gaskets are bad. I've been having more than usual heat on both sides lately. I just picked up the Honda gaskets mentioned in this thread and will be replacing them as soon as I get a chance. Check out the thread.

That's were I'd start. A little leak will give you a lot of heat.

I had a TON of heat on my right leg...thought it was due to the air dam.

I replaced the Y gaskets and still have some heat, although it's more even with the left side.

I still get some popping from the exhaust, but I'm not too sure I have the JB dialed in quite yet. Seems to be when coasting/decelerating, esp. in 4th gear. I will pull back the fuel a little to make the mixture a little more lean...will see what that does.

Bottom plastic splash guards, on the underside of the Spyder. The left side one is the one you would possibly take off when changing your oil and filter. We've been riding without ours for almost two years now, ever since Lamonster suggested it as a way to help get rid of heat under the plastics.

Wrapping the pipes in exhaust wrapped seemed to help for me. I haven't even thought about removing those splash guards.
