• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Excessive heat in trunk

I keep my cell phone in the trunk and I have noticed that it gets very hot when in there and I have had my phone shut off due to excessive heat. Does anyone else have this problem and how did you address the situation.

Thanks.......

when you say trunk what one do you mean, what bike are you riding. i cooked a phone in the center lil compartment right in front of the seat

I was warned to not put my cell phone, chapstick, etc, in the glove box of the '14 RT, as it gets really hot especially after a long ride. However, I've had my cell phone in the frunk of my former GS and the top case of the GS and didn't have a problem.

Guess it could also depend on where you live and the heat index too..........

I keep my phone in the rear trunk and haven't had any problems. I have not noticed any excessive heat in the front trunk but like the others have said watch what you put in the glove box or, as it is sometimes called, the top oven

No..!!

we have our phones in the frunk and they are always cool. RS black but try not to leave it out in the sun. :dontknow:

Iphone

I keep my iPhone connected to the 12v socket in my frunk and have never had any issues with it getting hot.
Now if you mean the GLOVEBOX on the RT then I can see you may have a problem as it is situated directly above the engine.

With two radiators now attached at the front trunk there could be a heat problem there? (if were talking 14) But it would be better there then under the main body work. On my 13 the front trunk is one of the cool places on the bike...

Thanks for the input..........

I have a 2011 RT and I am talking about the trunk.....the area behind the passenger. I keep it there charging when I ride. I guess it is something that I will just have to keep an eye on.

What color is your bike?
Direct sunlight is about the only source of heat that could affect the top trunk...
A dark-colored bike will absorb more heat. :dontknow:

I have the same year as you and I keep my briefcase in the frunk with laptop, etc. No heat issues up front for me. But I am on freeways a lot.

I had a chocolate bar in the trunk. It melted, but the outside temps were in the high 90's.

In the trunk, like any car, it will get warmer since there is no cooling.

I guess that explains why I saw you licking the inside of your trunk at Spyderfest... :dontknow:

I have always kept my cellphone and my Eyeglasses in the glovebox, I've never had a heat issue with either, and that's on my 2010 and 2013 Rt's.
