• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Ever been hassled because of your RC patch?

I guess I just go with the flow and try not to pre-judge. Because I live fairly close to Laconia, it's not unusual to see patched bikers around, especially this time of year with bike week coming up. Mostly, I don't approach them and if they approach me, I am friendly and treat them like I would anyone else. Mostly they are interested in the Spyder, and how it performs in comparison to a two wheeled bike. They are generally polite and seem really interested so I've never had a problem, but I wear no colors or patches so I guess I pose no threat and they just treat me like another "joe biker". For the most part, I follow Bruisers rules and it all works out.

THAT's the one that I was looking for! :2thumbs:
Joy,
You're one in a million; and worth even more than that! :firstplace:

:2thumbs: That fills in the gaps I left out.

This subject is close to me. No I never was a part of a "Club." But when I first started riding my Harley, my mentor was an ex-1%-er. No, you can never leave the club, but if you move half way across the country and never go back to that state, sometimes they will leave you alone.

He taught me a lot. Any question I asked, he would answer truthfully. Got to the point where I didn't ask questions anymore. TMI. Just remained good friends. The one thing he drilled in to me was never join a club. And I never have.

OH ***** YA...! ! !

OH ***** YES...! ! ! ! !

I HAD 3 YOUNG MEN, ABOUT THE EARLY 30'S COME UP TO LOOK @ MY SPYD3R BACK IN '09.... THE 'BIG MOUTH' IN THE BUNCH SAID, "WHAT KIND OF PIECE OF ***** IS THIS?" OR SOMETHING TO THAT AFFECT.....

MY REPLY WAS; "I TAKE IT YOU DON'T LIKE MY SPYD3R?"... TO WHICH HE REPLIED, "NO".... TO WHICH I RESPONDED WITH, "GOOD, BECAUSE I'D HATE TO THINK YOU AND I WOULD HAVE THE SAME TASTE."... HIS 2 BUDDY'S STARTED LAUGHING AT HIM, AND WALKED AWAY SAYING, "THAT OLD BASTARD STUCK IT TO YOU"...

ALL I CAN SAY IS; IF EVERYONE LIKED THE SAME THING, THIS WORLD WOULD BE TOTALLY BORING......

Wife has been asking what I want to replace my Vulcan Owners Patch on back of my vest. I now know.

I haven't seen any problems with people wearing SRA patches in my area. I have a small one on my vest...though most of the patches on my vest are military patches from the ships and squadrons I was in in the Navy. No one bothers me about that.

When I lived in St Louis a couple of years ago it was quite different. There are a number of 1%er clubs in the area and they were all pretty touchy about colors. To the point that even the PGR had to be careful of what they wore.

Even though I often wear a vest, I don't wear anything on it that could be confused with colors.

I ryde with the PGR on have many patches and have never had any problems with any RC's or MC's even have ridden with HA's as long as you show respect you can get along with any one, most like our :spyder2:'s and believe that it does not matter what you ryde,it's that you ryde!

I won't wear patch's other than factory emblems on my coat and hat that I bought from BRP. I see no need to ruin my clothing sewing a patch on it. No problems with those that do but I am a 59 year old adult so I think patches, pins, tats just mess up a nice clothing or skin, lol. Now that I live in northern WA I have started where jeans so that is "Rebel" enough for me, lol.

Every weekend, I ryde with my SRA patch and Sac Chapter rocker...no problems at all. I also ryde with the Harleys quite often and have had very little problem. The only issue I had was with my Spyder itself. At a Poker Run, a Harley owner thought they were underpowered, but once on the road and in the twisties he changed his tune. I don't take crap from others, yet don't go looking for trouble. I wear my SRA patch with pride, and acknowledge and respect other clubs and their patches. Respect received is respect given...but on the other hand, I don't take s#!t from someone bad mouthing my ryde or club, as I am proud of both.

I do have to mention that I wear my other vest (Leather with skulls) when ryding with the Harleys...only because I reserve my club vest for club rydes.

Just stay away from the 3 piece patches as they are reserved for the 1%ers.

My other half runs in a 3 patch MC (family oriented, no "property of" bulls*%t, good clean boys riding and working for charity) and honestly i like to tease him quite often that the three piece patch clubs are nothing more than little boys treehouse clubs and i have no use for them. He has friends in HA, and outcast, etc etc. and an old friend of my fathers is a bandito and i've never known him as anything but my sweet uncle. It really just depends on the MC. Some people in MCs are awesome boys, great people, do great things, and they just like to ride. Some people get caught up too much in the "colors" and the politics and really take things too seriously IMO, perhaps they should ride more and deal with politics less...just sayin...
That being said, if they hassle you, just leave and drop the issue. Not worth having an arguement or worse over
But I don't ride with patches (much to my other halves disappointment) i don't even have a vest ( much to his club's disappointment who think you must have a vest to be a real rider). I dont' need a patch, a vest, a pin or whatever to define myself as a "real rider" or a "weekend warrior". I don't give a hoot what people think, i'm riding and i'm enjoying it.
And unfortunately for my other half, i really have to watch what i saw and do around the other clubs that have "property of" patches for the ladies because i don't have a filter on my mouth. So i tend to stay in the background and just hang out with my "safe" people that i dont need a filter for.
Motorcycle Clubs are really just too much political Bull%@#$ for me, just ride and have fun.

and since I change my mind about stuff like once every 5 minutes, I make sure i get a pin, patch, sticker, or whatever from all the "cool places" we go so i can put them on my travel bag in my trunk =)
Maybe one day i'll change my mind about the vest and then i'll have tons of pretty patches to choose from to put on it! but ...not today

Personally, never got into the "patch-thing" either. Nor have I ever been a fan of "clubs"... JMO

Veterans Patches & Rockers

I belong to the American Legion Riders and have been to many events over the last decade. There are other vet groups like the PGR and Rolling Thunder who likewise wear their patches and rockers on their vests. I've never seen any of them getting hassled by "one percenters". Not saying it can't happen but I've never had or seen any trouble. I know the American Legion Riders do not consider themselves to be a MC (motorcycle club) but just a group of Legion members who ride motorcycles for good causes. The behavior is what differentiates us from the other end of the spectrum.

Here's a tip: don't let your back look like theirs. Make sure you sew your chapter rocker, if you have one, adjoining the larger one. This way you won't look like a 2 or 3 patch ryder. I've never been harassed by the gangs. I've been surrounded by the Vagos once in a Cajon Pass gas station but they were just curious about the bike. I once belonged to a family MC and it was a large single patch. The gangs usually don't mess with family friendly clubs unless they have knowledge the the "family" club is actually a "wanna be". There are clubs that give that impression, and in some cases wear two patch. They can be worse than the bad boys looking for attention. Some rehab clubs are fronts for the bad boys, even purported "religious" clubs. Another thing, avoid calling your patches as "colors" or "cuts" and if you are ever alone ryding with your wife or girlfriend and there are bad boys at the gas or eatery where you stop, ALWAYS accompany the lady where ever they want to go. This is the wrong time for a female to be independent. Don't walk into the ladies room however. If you are new to the sport be careful of poker runs, etc. that may be sponsored by MC bad boys. The funds may go to charity but some may wind up in their own treasury for illegal activities. They may appear as normies at these functions, but if you see other clubs at the event, they may be there on a "diplomatic" mission giving the impression of supporting each other. Use wisdom on and off the bike.
