• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Events Forum?

Greetings ...

For Lamont:

I was wondering if there had been any thought toward creating a separate forum on Spyderlovers within which to post events that are either Spyder-centric, or other events that might be a draw to Spyders or a nice place to represent our machines. Most recently, is the case of a mid-size Maxi-Scoot (400cc and above) Rally that I Road Captain in Pennsylvania. A member of Spyderlovers, as well as well as a handful of other Spyder ryders have participated in the event. As a result, the rally has come to embrace inclusion of Spyders. I have posted that event in select State forums (PA, MD, VA, NJ, NY), but unfortunately, our state chapter forums are not highly trafficked, and one must post the information separately in each state to get the coverage.

Other sites include a central forum for events, which include scheduling tools, e.g. fields for event name, host/contact info, website URL and narrative. I'll stress that I'm not complaining; it's just an idea I feel might be neat to implement. I realize there may be some concern about posting an event that competes with a highly-anticipated Spyderlovers event or your annual BBQ. I figure site admin tools could curtail postings in regions on critical dates that conflict with events of high interest to Spyderlovers.

Best,

Paul

Re: Calendar

I never knew about the potential of the calendar either. I thought it was for Lamont and sponsor use. It's actually an event calendar for all of us (Yaay).

Lamont ... Is there a way one could put a small banner over the calendar that says "EVENT CALENDAR" or something to that effect, vs. just a calendar on the side bar? I think this neat feature is under-used and feel sure that its location on the home page, if clearly identified as an events/happenings/important date calendar would be a boon to smaller user-sponsored local rydes, rallies; as well as larger events.

Best,

Paul

I know that sounds easy to do but it requires finding the code and making changes to the code and whatever else it might effect. I don't see that happening anytime soon as I'm more focused on moving the board to a new server right now.
