• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Ethanol Gas vs non Ethanol

gas mileage drops on my '14 RT-S SM6

if I use anything except 91 octane 100% gas. I normally get 38-40 mpg, but with either 87 or 10% ethanol, it drops into the high 20's low 30's. LOL It may be my imagination, but it may be my driving habits also! :)

If you can buy "pure gas" by all means do it! Ethanol gas robs 10% of the gas's power out put. I wish it was readily available near me. Tom :spyder:
Hi Tom,
You should be able to find some "pure" fuel up near Lake Wallenpaupack...
Check around the marinas...

Best solution for fresh gas in the tank, whatever you use -- ride lots! Time for a Three Musketeers.

I agree with you. You are correct, it's your imagination......My 2014 RT 1330 only gets 87 Octane w/ethyl and Startron and I average 39 MPG........Mike

OMG

Okay... Your "87 Octane only" argument; just lost some of it's luster...

:yikes:.........Yes Robert," SLIGHT " as in 87.5 Octane .......so technically it would be dis-honest to say I'm using 88 Octane ..........and frankly I don't care if you are putting 108 Octane AV-GAS in your's......if it makes you feel good ...do it .........I do :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:..............Mike

I add Startron which does two things , gives a slight boost to the Octane and supposedly negates the Ethynol.........Don't confuse RECOMMENDED with MUST USE or ONLY USE ..................BRP recommends 91 in the 998 engine ........but it is designed to operate fine on 87.......IMHO if I could get 87 NON-Ethyl ....I would get that...........It has more Power .......................PS I ran my GS and then my RSS only on 87 and never had an issue ......Mike

Actually that changed. The 2013s are labled on the emissions sticker to use 91 octane minimum.

While the fuel with ethanol does contain less energy per unit volume, the engine makes no less power while running it. It just uses more fuel to acheive the same O2 sensor readings (air/fuel ratio). This is because of the extra oxygen contained in the fuel.

Fuel milage on 10% ethanol blends will average 1 to 2% less fuel economy than pure gasoline.

Spyder fuel systems contain no real rubber. All hoses are newer materials that are compatible with the E10 blend.

I much rather running E-free than carrying the additive & hoping mix ix right. Ill mix a weedeater & lawn mower cuz its only a gallon mix on the bike i try to not get into that last gallon of reserve too often.
