EASY RISER 4.5"

Has anyone tried this new product. I know there is a 3" and 4"Riser. But is the 4.5" extreme?Any problems with cable and wire length? I see the price is almost half of the 3" or 4". Not complaining just wondering why? I will be buying some sort of riser soon and want to keep the original factory look in the center of the handlebar area. I am aware of the steering head type riser, it allows the bar to be higher but not necessarily back toward the driver. Welcome anyones 2 cents.
I just rode my 08rs for the first time last night. Pretty gutsy to buy a Spyder and had never rode one. The only way to describe it is, it is a TOY. Fun as Hell!! :2thumbs:

I have a 08 also, i went with the 3'' should of got the 4'' ,I'm just short of 6' and i like to sit cruiser style. About the 4.5'' In my opinion[only] they look like an add on,
Whereas the 3'' and 4'' looks original factory.

I have not had experience with the ESI riser. I put the standard BRP riser on my 2008 when it first came out--the dealer put one on his bike also. Neither thought that did much. My dealer makes a 3" riser and he let me try one out for free--that one gave me the sitting position I preferred. I had one installed on the spouses 2009 and she liked it a lot. ($300). We had Corbin fairings on both bikes and you could not do lock to lock steering with the 3" riser attached. There would be no interference with a regular type of windshield. A 4.5 riser sounds like it would be even more confortable. I am guessing ESI has thought about cable lengths etc. I made no adjustments to my 2010 RTS--it did not need it. Hope this gives you some information.

If you are talking about the Easy Risers you should be good with the factory cables/wires....

I think it depends if the increase is upward, or back towards the ryder I think for as far as comfort level and potentially the lengths of wire/cables needed.

We put the 7" kit from KewlMetal on our and only needed to snip the two Zip Ties under the dash to give us more than enough cable/wiring length.

Additionally the KewlMetal unit does keep the handlebar locking mechanism fully functioning.

The ESI has a nice advantage allowing for fine tuning of the desired angle... It is a PITA on the KewlMetal unit and only allows the forward and back adjust-ability at that.

EASY RISER 4.5"

I talked to the company that markets the Risers. I got some of my questions answered. They told me that the reason they are about 1/2 the price of the other Risers is that these are cast and the others are Billet. The cables and wiring should all reach but 4.5 inch rise is about the limit. I am still looking for people who actually have these and can give me their opinion on the comfort, look, installation process, quality. I would guess that I would also need mirror extensions. Thanks again you are a great community of people who care and want to help each other.

Look two posts above and click on the top picture, That will give you an idea as to looks.

Does anyone make a riser for the RT? I would like my handlebars to come back a little.
None that I am aware of, at this point. Be aware that the RT already has handlebar interference with the legs, with the bars turned to their extremes, so a product that brings them back further would carry a heavy liability burden.

I have the 4" standard ESI risers and the hubby has the 4.5" ESI "Easy Risers". It takes some patience routing the wires properly, but they will reach. He really likes his risers on his Phantom Spyder.

I opted for these and like em. The only issue I have is they interfere with the Givi fairing I added- even with a taller mount on the fairing but its ony at the extreme ends of a turn and I could turn the risers to fix it but don't see a need for it.

I have the Kewlmetal risers, about the same rise as those and I can now use most of the mirrors, didn't need the mirror extensions. 6ft. tall...

I put these risers on, and considering I did not know what I was doing other than to follow the directions had no problem. Took me about 5 hours, but I worked very slow. I mean very slow. Measuring three times, and cutting once, so I would not mess up (like I said, very slow). Cables was no problem other then cutting the tie-strap, and re-routing the clutch line. This was easy, but you will need to make sure you don't drop the bolt/washers unless you have a spare washer or two (don't ask). One thing I did was take off the plastic cover thing from the side that is covered by the grip to cover the hole left in the original pipe by the bracket where the white lines are. I hope these pics show what I am talking about. I like the ryde much better with these risers and grips on, and are worth the money.

DID THOSE OF YOU WHO PUT THE 4.5" ON HAVE TO SERIOUSLY RE-ROUTE THE WIRES? MINE ARE VERY, VERY TIGHT? I THINK TO TIGHT TO BE SAFE.

You will need to re-route them to a certain extent. Try re-positioning the risers until you get the right amount of slack that you feel comfortable with. That's what we did and we've had them on for over 5K miles with no problems.

It helps to have a second pair of eyes looking at where the wires are being tugged at from the other side.
