There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Week one of our ten week Summer Adventure

I still can't believe Erags talked me into going on the road for the summer. We headed out on June 13th in our Damon Outlaw (38 ft. Class A motorhome toyhauler) with our :spyder2: in the garage. We decided to leave a few days early for the BRP Owner's Event so that we could spend a few days in Pine Mtn GA. It didn't take long for me to figure out one advantage of traveling by RV is the ease of getting up to get snacks! This just might not be too bad! We checked out gas prices on gasbuddy.com...it took exactly $200 to fill the RV the first time we stopped (and this was the CHEAP price?! :yikes:) Day 2: We checked out Warm Springs GA and 2 covered bridges in the area...after driving several hours to see Auchumpkee Covered Bridge in Thomaston we discovered we were only 12 miles from the Red Oak Covered Bridge! That one posed a bit of a dilemma...you can drive through Red Oak, but the reinforced boards are obviously for CARS...Erags had to do some fancy driving to keep all three :spyder2: tires on the reinforced boards. It was still pretty hot in Georgia so we were hoping NC would be cooler. We stopped for groceries and our bike read "111" when we came out (granted, it was in the sun) but it took a LONG time to get "down to 96". We headed for Maggie Valley on day 3 and arrived under a severe thunderstorm watch until 8 pm. Our TV coverage went out...on the day of Game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals :yikes:. Luckily it came back on 15 min before the puck dropped. Go Bruins! I started my 3rd book of the trip (another advantage of RVing over riding the :spyder2: on long trips). Day 4 was Lamonster's BBQ...always a great time. One of the other couples in our RV park was talking about possible driving their truck to the BBQ since they were worried about rain...Erags told them "you do NOT arrive at Lamonster's in a truck." We rode with 2 of the couples (Cheryl & Ray and Chuck & Helen) to Lamont's, taking the scenic Rattler part of the way. We bought a pair of 2011 RT shocks from another Spyderlover but didn't have a chance to have them installed. Plenty of pictures have already been posted from the BBQ so I won't put any more up here. Suffice it to say, we always like seeing what others have done to their :spyder2:. I was amazed at the number of RTs this year compared to RS/GSs. Day 5 we headed out on the Blue Ridge Parkway with Steve & Jan, fellow riders from our area. Jan wanted to go to the Folk Art Center so we headed out. It was a lovely ride with overcast skies. On our way back, approx 50 miles from Maggie Valley we ended up with "Check engine" warning lights and a ragged-running :spyder2:. Of course, we had no cell phone signal to call the BRP service guys :helpsmilie:at the Owner's Event. We decided to try to ride back...which was slow going. It ended up that we had a shorted out spark plug wire. Imagine doing 50 miles of the Blue Ridge Parkway on one cylinder! Thought we'd have to push the bike on some of the hills. We limped into the service area and our bike was repaired (well, the broken wire was taped up). Not much was scheduled during the next day until later in the day so we decided to ride to Cherokee with Steve & Jan. With rain forecast in the afternoon/evening, we figured we'd ride while we could, then go through the Wheels Through Time museum which BRP provided as part of the Owner's Event. It started pouring before we made it to Cherokee and our "Check engine" light came on again. Fortunately this time we were closer to :helpsmilie:and our bike didn't seem to be running quite as badly as the day before. After the thunder & lightning stopped the service techs checked our :spyder2: out again...the taping of the wire had apparently come apart with the rain. They had an extra spark plug wire and Erags replaced our wire. We never did make it to the Museum since it was close to closing time by then. We checked out the BRP clothing, looked the hybrid over (beautiful!), ate a delicious BBQ dinner; the winners of the drawings and contests were announced and the crowds thinned considerably afterwards. Day 7 was another wet day, with rain starting around 3 a.m. We postponed our departure to Cashiers a few times (we were meeting my sister & her family there for lunch), then we took off under cloudy skies. We stayed until 5 or so, then rode home through the Nantehala Forest, past Bridal Veil Falls and a covered bridge. It was a wonderful first week on the road. We enjoyed visiting and :chat: with many Spyderlovers at the Owner's Event and Lamonster's BBQ. Next stop: Frankfort KY and the Bourbon Trail.

Next Stop: Frankfort KY

I love travelogues. Can't wait for the next episode.

Thanks, NancysToy. Our next stop was Frankfort KY. Erags had read an article about the KY Bourbon Trail so we decided to stop in KY for 4 nights. This should be a real experience since both of us prefer to drink red wine and I have NEVER had bourbon. We rode the Spyder through historic Frankfort after setting up camp, and tackled 5 out of 6 distilleries on the Bourbon Trail the next day. You get a free T-shirt if you have each of the distilleries stamp a passport...so of course we had to have our Bourbon Passports handy!:2thumbs: You don't have to actually drink bourbon to get your stamp, but, when in Rome do as the Romans do, right? I had to attach the picture from the Wild Turkey distillery in this post...see what happens when a non-bourbon drinker drinks bourbon...they climb on weird looking rockers! (Now Erags can truly say I am off my rocker since it is still in KY). We managed to make it to 5 of the 6 distilleries (most of them are not actually in Frankfort) before making it back to the RV 5 minutes before the skies let loose with rain and hail for about 15 min. Great timing, on Erags' part. :clap:The next day we finished the Bourbon trail and completed our Passports.:ohyea:We were having such a great time we added a 7th distillery to our touring...Buffalo Trace, which ended up being our favorite distillery. You enter the warehouse through a sliding bookcase, just like in Prohibition times! The tour takes you along the production line, right beside the workers. We really liked the Bourbon Cream they make...should have bought more than one bottle since it is ONLY sold in Kentucky. Tastes like Bailey's, only better!(I guess it gives us one more reason to return to the Bluegrass state!) Beautiful riding. The next day we toured Frankfort. A travel brochure commented about the Capitol being one of the most beautiful ones in the nation. Of course, I figured it was written by a biased person, namely a Kentuckian. It was indeed beautiful.:firstplace: (Erags and I were discussing that neither of us has been in OUR state Capitol but we're touring another state's while on vacation!) All three branches of the government are in the same building. A Floral Clock (34 ft. across with 10,000 plants) behind the Capitol was quite pretty, too. We visited the Frankfort Cemetery (Daniel & Rebecca Boone's graves) and the KY Vietnam Veteran's Memorial. It was a very interesting memorial in that the point of a giant sundial's shadow touches the veteran's engraved name on the anniversary of their death. That must have taken a lot of planning. We stopped at Wal-mart's and Lowe's on the way home...had our first scare :yikes: of the trip when I realized I didn't have my set of keys when we were about 1/2 way home. Erags had placed them on top of the trunk when we were loading groceries, unknown to me...we turned around and searched the parking lot. Someone had turned our keys in to customer service  , We finally made it back to the RV park. After dinner we rode to the covered bridge in Switzer that was close to our campground.

We tried to mail our registration for Spyderfest Magog but the Post Office was not allowed to accept mail for Canada due to a Canadian postal strike.
(We met an accountant from Quebec on the Blue Ridge Parkway who told us we had to come to Magog the week before SITA for a :spyder2: rally there. We adjusted our itinerary so we could do so...then couldn't send our check or registration in. Might have to deliver it in person! )

Next stop: SW Pennsylvania outside of Pittsburgh (meeting my youngest daughter's boyfriend's parents)
