There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Engine vibration

Hi All,
Does anyone else have an engine "vibration" at 3500rpm in any gear??
I call it a vibration cos I can't think of another way to describe it. :dontknow:
It doesn't matter what speed I am at, but when the revs pass thru 3500 there it is.
Annoying rather than worrying!!
So far I am figuring it's just the engine design.
She's my new 2011 RTS SE5

Any insights??? :helpsmilie:

cheers
Pete

I have a bit of vibration on my 2011 RT LTD between 3500 and 4500 RPMs. All is very smooth a 5K+. However, I am not sure it's the engine. May be the drive belt. I'm hoping to hear from Capt.Jim on the RT version of his belt tensioner. Like to know if it has an effect on reducing virbration.

Thanks Y Rider.
Hadn't thought of the drive belt.
Will ride some more and see if I can "feel" where it is coming from, in front of me or behind me!!!
I have noticed that it doesn't matter how long I ride at that rev, the vibe is constant. It doesn't drop out at all.
cheers

Not to sound stupid, but can you rev that high in neutral?
I only ask cos my car has a neutral rev limiter.

I have Capt. Jim`s belt tensioner on my RT and it does help the vibration. I modified mine so it allowed me to install the RS version on my RT. If he gets the RT version done it would be $ well spent.

Do some research on this board about belt tension. I did and followed Nancy's Toy on checking belt tension. Bike now so smooth hard to believe it is same bike. My belt was very loose and did not have enough clearance from drive pulley flange.
