• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Engine/Transmission Growling/Grinding Sounds

Questions

New member
I own a 2011 RT-S and on Monday this week, I heard a distressing sound.
I returned from work to home (35 mile ride) and pulled into my driveway to park the Spyder.
I put it into reverse to move the Spyder where I wanted it to position it and then pulled forward in 1st to park the Spyder in its normal location.
When I placed the Spyder in 1st and applied some throttle, I got a growling/grinding sound coming from the engine or transmission.
Being concerned, I immediately turned it off and went in to eat supper.
After supper, I returned to the Spyder, turned it on, placed in reverse and backed it up a few feet. (No growling/grinding sound when backing up.)
I then put the Spyder in 1st, applied some throttle to reposition the bike and again heard the same growling/grinding sound.
Any ideas of the potential problem?
I don't want to ride it to my dealer as any possible damage could be worsened.
I only have 8000 miles on my Spyder.
It is the SE5 transmission.

Bummer..!!

try putting it in second gear. Could be it is not going fully into position. Hopefully you can get things lined up going into other gears. Otherwise visit your local dealer and have them check it out. Have them check the the shifting mechanism behind the clutch cover.. :dontknow:
