• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

engine surge when shifting down to first

I had the same issue once. Long story short. My oil level was about 1qt low. Added some oil and problem went away.
Check your oil level first though. Good luck.

Surge happens for a reason

Think about it, guys, the engine has to surge or speed up for an instant to allow the transmission gears to synchronize to keep the downshift smooth.

The Spyder SE has a throttle blipper that cuts the engine rpm momentarily when upshifting and revs the engine slightly when downshifting, if necessary to make the transmission gears mesh.

What year is your bike?
Make sure that it has the latest software updates downloaded.Just had my wifes updated that was overdue. The tech told me it would change the shifting a little, make the computers comunicate better and make the gauges less jumpy.

How do you get the latest updates downloaded? Or better yet, how do you know when you need an update? thanks!

Last time I was at the dealer I asked the service manager to check for me, he pulled up Bug's record and they showed not updates due.

It'll get checked again when its in for the 6500 later this month.

Ride and ride safe,
