• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Engine gone bad

Hubby was at the motorcycle dealer today and saw another Spyder in their shop (I don't know who owns it, but there's only 3 in Nebraska that I know of) so he asked why it was there. They said the owner heard a ticking in the engine that got louder and louder until it was more like a hammering and "getting ready to grenade" as the tech put it. Now it's waiting for a new engine. :yikes:
Anyone else hear of anything like that? I can't remember how many miles he said it had on it, but not many - like a thousand or so. Now I'm listening for every little noise that comes out of mine.

Yes

BRP replaced my engine

I had 5,117.6 miles on it at the time.

The new engine has about 1,750 miles.

Did the 1st engine stall at a high speed and did you pull in the clutch to roll to the side of the road? Could it have lost oil pressure and wiped the bearing behind the clutch and the crap from the clutch bearing plug the oil galleys in the engine? The you can imagine what would happen.
Just wunderin

I was on the freeway at 70 mph and it jerked a few times and then just died.

A complete breakdown was done and the bearing at the crank was shreaded to almost nothing believed to be a lack of oil.

we don't know what the reason for lack of oil was, oil pump??????

we don't know and at that time I recieved the only new rotax engine that was crated in north america.
