There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. End of my wits, need trunk spring

I just adjusted the male part one time. Never failed in 2 years, now have the RT.

You never had a problem with the gasket being compressed and having to make another adjustment? I ask b/c I went with the spring right from the beginning and then later switch to the tricled trunk release.

:dontknow:
Same as Dudley, Adjusted it once pushing 3 years now still pops up every time. But I'm thinking of getting an out side release,
I have a habit of starting the engine then realizing i have to get something out of the trunk.

spring...

Go with 155 (look up the old threads or earlier on this one to make sure you have the right spring...it's really the easiest and cheapest way to go...honest...it works really well...you need a small hardware store to find it...

The Spyder has it's own cave, so each time I got home, I released the trunk...that way it was always open after I started the Spyder, until we were ready to leave.

I do the same Dudley. When I get home, I have to get my glasses, wallet, cell, candy, and stuff my wife has bought on ryde out of trunk so I just leave it open till next time. She makes me carry all the stuff so she wont over load hers. I always thought garages were for cars. Now I know they are for :spyder2:. and my tractor. Car and truck sit in the weather.

Boborgera, I am wondering how much shipping and handling cost. I am looking for 2 springs for my z-coils. That uncle's sister girlfriends place in Paraguay, Springs are us may just the place I am looking for to get them. HMMMM:roflblack::roflblack:

I got these springs at the ace hardware in crestview a year ago. I would be happy to pick you up one when I come through crestview on my way to pick up the spyder after it's dps fix. I could leave it with Jimmy @ pensacola motor sports if you like.

Thanks, got one on the way. Are you in Crestview? My brother bought a home there 15 years ago. I've been meaning to get there to see if it was worth buying from him as an investment property.

I just dont understand. I went to local hardware store, bought a 50 foot nylon rope, a horseshoe strap, a pulley and pulley bracket, a drill and bit 1", a 100 foot extension cord and a generator. I then placed the generator 90 feet away from :spyder2:. Plugged in the extension cord, put drillbit in drill and drilled a hole in the trunk. I then put rope into the hole, opened trunk and tied a really big knot in the rope so it would not slip out of hole. I then attached pulluy and bracket to the shock bolt, slipped rope into pulley and looped the rope over handle bars. Now when I want to open the trunk, I put rope in mouth, turn key and pull rope. Walla, trunk opens. The extra rope is good to use when you are chasing cows or horses. Total cost was something around $700.00. Or you might just snug up the latch bolt so when you close the trunk, there is a little resistance so the next time you turn the key, the trunk lid springs open just a tad and you can pull it up. Cost- $0. Just my opinion.:shemademe_smilie::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

:bowdown:Thanks again.

Happy Trails:yes::spyder:,

$700? Pshhh. For $70k, I'll ride bitch and open it on command, (so long as we're stopped; workers comp and such...).

I was at Lowes and couldn't find the exact spring everyone was talking about so I ended up just buying a lot of different Hillman assorted springs. Then at home found one that went over the trunk latch and cut to size. Think the assorted springs were $4 but I prob spent $9 in total with other springs I didnt use.

Just go to Lowes and buy a whole bunch :P

Spring isn't even held on by anything. Its kinda wedged on there.. I think I twisted it on. If I remember correctly it sits above the hole that the latch goes into so it doesnt get caught-up in the mechanism.

Once you get the spring mod going the next thing you have to get is the push-button trunk release.
Best mod ever when the Spyder is already running!
Get a $5 door actuator and a button and experiment:

I have the button hidden, but wired so that I can open the trunk if I happen to lock the key in there. Although the button is hidden, it's easy to get to while still seated.

But, you certainly spent a lot less money on your actuator.

Like what I did, I got it wedged between the two nuts and just tightened...it isn't going to go anywhere and it is a great and inexpensive fix...
