There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. End of my wits, need trunk spring

Ok, I've called and driven to every hardware store in Pensacola:mad::spyder: and no one has spring #155:gaah:. In fact they all look like the spring industry is closing down. I know this isn't a major mod, but I use Red-Dragon for work and am in and out of the trunk. It is a major inconvenience to have to put my things down to use two hands to open the trunk.

So, will someone buy and mail me the spring. I've spent $8.00 in gas looking for the thing. I will gladly pay a little something for your time+part.

PM me if you will. Much Thanks,

Street

#155---what up!!

I myself would like to have my trunk spring loaded!!! if you can get me more INFO??? I will fine this spring #155:thumbup::dontknow: and make sure you get one :2thumbs:

Why do you need 2 hands to open the trunk? Once it is released, just pull up with one hand. Or adjust the male part of the lock to be just a little snug when you lock it. It will be a lot easier.

This mod works great and only cost me 50 cents! It should have been OEM! It fits perfectly down INSIDE so it's not visible like the other spring mods. Sorry, I don't have the spring number!

Spring loaded trunk opener

Parts required:
  • ½” copper water pipe cap
  • 15/32 X 1” to 1-1/8” spring
This is the spring I used but I ended up cutting about 1/2" off to set the tention I wanted. I drilled a hole in the copper cap for the bolt.

Find an electrician or plumber and ask him for a 1/2" or 3/8" unistrut spring nut, and remove the spring. :2thumbs:

Here's the spring info

The frunk spring mod hillman #155 spring less than a buck can't get much cheaper than this. :2thumbs:

Roger posted the above info. Others have solutions that must work. But I like this one. I'm told that the spring can be found at Ace Hardware, Tru-Value. And even Sears,...just not the ones in Pensacola:sour:!

I like Rando's solution as well. Just not sure of the size or tension of the spring.

I'm going to see if the electrician at my school has the spring nut that Big Arm spoke about.

Good Luck! Ryde Safe:thumbup:

Looks Great:thumbup:, and too much like WORK.:D I've got artists' brushes, not saws.

Thanks JJW

I Like EASY?

One to turn the key (un-latching), the other to pull up the lid. Is yours different?

It would be nice to walk out with 5 bags of groceries, switch them to my left hand, turn the key, the trunk springs open, I pull it up with my (free) right hand, and place groceries in the frunk. (without sitting the bags on the ground).

spring

Our podunk town of about 1500 people has a true value Hardware store . . . . don't know if its # 155, but it was in the spring box and all we did was take it out, 'screw' it over the nut and it worked . . . . less than a buck . . . .

Spring

I got these springs at the ace hardware in crestview a year ago. I would be happy to pick you up one when I come through crestview on my way to pick up the spyder after it's dps fix. I could leave it with Jimmy @ pensacola motor sports if you like.

Why not make life easier on yourself and pick up one of these from Reggy Tan, they come with the right size spring.

Spring on a rope.

I just dont understand. I went to local hardware store, bought a 50 foot nylon rope, a horseshoe strap, a pulley and pulley bracket, a drill and bit 1", a 100 foot extension cord and a generator. I then placed the generator 90 feet away from :spyder2:. Plugged in the extension cord, put drillbit in drill and drilled a hole in the trunk. I then put rope into the hole, opened trunk and tied a really big knot in the rope so it would not slip out of hole. I then attached pulluy and bracket to the shock bolt, slipped rope into pulley and looped the rope over handle bars. Now when I want to open the trunk, I put rope in mouth, turn key and pull rope. Walla, trunk opens. The extra rope is good to use when you are chasing cows or horses. Total cost was something around $700.00. Or you might just snug up the latch bolt so when you close the trunk, there is a little resistance so the next time you turn the key, the trunk lid springs open just a tad and you can pull it up. Cost- $0. Just my opinion.:shemademe_smilie::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

I just adjusted the male part one time. Never failed in 2 years, now have the RT.
