• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Emissions Question

CALI

the California version has 'peddles'.... roflmao
:lecturef_smilie:
just kid'n pal.... i have no idea... :roflblack:

Not sure

Are all 2013 Spyders 50 state legal? Or are there California specific models?

I know that if you buy a car in California it is 50 state legal, and would assume it would be for Spyders too. Also, I know you can not remove the catalytic converter, or change the exhaust pipe if it does not meet certain criteria in California.

yup

:trike:yeah all spyders have that nazty - heavy catalic converter, and I being a Texan , have proudly removed it!

Don't know..!!

but think they are legal in CA. If they have the emission Listing under the seat or swingarm. Some older model were not. But wise to check if buying out of state...:lecturef_smilie:

All are 50 state(calif. compliant) Unless, something changed for 2014. The emissions sticker is viewable when the seat is lifted.

Sticker under the seat says Legal in the US? Last I checked CA was in the US, so I'm guessing yes. Thanks for all the replies.

Now I'm really confused. I called Can AM. The lady who answered told me they were not all legal in CA. According to her there are CA specific models. I was unaware of this. Any owners in CA that can confirm? She took my info and VIN and said she would do some research to verify and then get back to me. I'd like to know if the emission sticker on a Spyder purchased in CA is the same as the rest of us. Not sure why their label would say it's legal in the US, if it is not in CA.

The California specific models come with .50 cal machine guns built into the frunk and the swing arm. The mods have to do with California drivers, and nothing to do with emissions. Trust me. I live in the People's Republic of California.

Maybe when she said CA, she was thinking Canada, and not California.

Horse feathers! :shemademe_smilie: She's mistaken.

Here is the response from CAN-AM

*** EMAIL RESPONSE FROM CAN-AM***
Thank you for contacting BRP.

In response to your request, the emission standards are different in California. Your vehicle does not meet the standards in California. To validate this information, you can contact the California Air Resources Board.

I hope this information will help!

*California DMV

NOTE:California law prohibits California residents or businesses from importing and/or registering a new vehicle with less than 7,500 miles at the time of purchase ●unless it meets● California emission standards.

If you acquire a 49-State vehicle (manufactured for all states except California) from another state or country, you may not be able to register your vehicle in California.

If, what she is saying is true. It has to mean that BRP produced two different units model year 2013. A 49 state and a special run of California only spyders.

Could be. But it would be the first year they have done so.

Question here.

What do you have or are you planning on purchasing and.....are you planning on registering it in Cal? Cause other than asking for a picture of the emissions sticker you have provided little info to work with. Which may be why you are getting mixed info.

California air resources board? Really? Look, no disrespect to Sabrina is meant here but, the air resources board has zip to do with ●vehicle registration. At best if you called them and actually got through to anything other than a recorded message, they would certainly refer you to the DMV.
