There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Emergency Tire Repair

So I thought it would be good to carry something for emergency tire repair. I thought I would ask if you carry something, what do you carry ?

Sorry I could not get the photos to import.

Cycle Gear as well as others carry a motorcycle tire emergency plug kit.

I also found this CO2 inflator on Amazon:

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B007L31L66...TF8&colid=2I0H521JOEUA9&coliid=I2V2J2I4SPL3D6

What do you think of these ? Or would you get a small 12 volt inflator (I am thinking small and weight reduction items).

That brings another question: My ST-L has a 12 volt plug in the frunk. Does Spyder use a standard full size cig lighter type plug or is it the mini plug found on some mcycles ?

Thanks for the info. :thumbup::spyder2:

Space..!!

dpends on space...I have both but because of space carry a mushroom plug kit with air cartrages. the whole thing is smaller than the compressor.. I have an RS but the baggers have plenty of room....

So you like the air cartridges and a plugger ?.....that is what I was leaning towards. Save space and weight.

I have a plug kit and a small slime compressor that connects to my battery tender leads off the battery.

I did some research on this

I found a you tube on M/C tire repair and other one from one of the bike parts suppliers who also had a video on tire repair. There are basically three types of tire plugs, and all had about the same success/failure rate. The round mushroom plug, the small round plug with a metal tip (the most expensive of all three) and the strips of which there are about two types (the least expensive). Then there is the liquid type that you insert into the tire though the valve stem like the Slime and Ride-On types. From what I've gathered the CO2 cartridge will fill a normal motorcycle tire to about 20 pounds or so. The second, third and forth CO2 will only will only give you another three to five pounds each from there on out. All the compact air compressors seem to be fairly closely rated with the exception of the very cheap ones. Stay with the $35 and up range, they get the better reviews. Here's what I ordered for my bike. I bought the Slime compact compressor which came with a bottle of Slime. $39.00 I also bought the strip plugs with the "T" handle inserters and extra strips. $20.00 My plan is, depending on the size of the puncture hole, is to use the strips first. One, two, or more what ever it takes. Then if they fail which is a 50/50 shot, I'll have the slime as backup if I need it. Kind of like wearing a belt and suspenders at the same time if you get my drift. The compressor will work over and over and will do about 50 pounds in 10 minutes. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Happy Trails..................

Same here. I like the compressor because It gives me an unlimited volume of air. I have a set of CO2's that a friend gave me but they sit at home in the tool box. The compressor is actually smaller and lighter. I had to use the plugs once but since I was at a gas station when I got my flat I just used their air hose.

I carry a Harley compressor, it works great and a plug kit. The compressor can be either hooked up to your battery with jumper type cables or to an SAE plug

Plenty of room on a Spyder for a small 12V compressor, especially if you have bags in addition to the frunk. Personally I have had two riding friends who used the mushroom plugs on their bikes - had the plugs blow out at highway speeds. I stick with the tried and true sticky gummy worms (rope) kits. As for Slime and other liquid sealers, tire shop guys HATE repairing tires with them; gets all over their machines and shop floor.

I just ordered this kit from amazon. I was going to get the dynaplug tool and co2 cartridges but decided to get their compressor instead. You can see it in action on you tube.

I would have liked that too. I just ordered on Amazon; Slime Brand tire plug kit, extra plugs and a mini slime inflator.

Here is the link to the inflator:

What I liked about the inflator it will plug into my Battery Tender connection which is already hooked to the battery.

These give us some peace of mind that we can fix a minor flat/nail and get into town for a repair. Saves a tow truck and potential damage from an operator that has not hooked up a Spyder before

Be prepared

Nice...If you don't already have one make sure you get a lithium jump starter battery to add to your collection. :D

I have the4 Slime compressor after reading it was top rated by Motorcycle Consumer News (MCN) a few years back. I also plug it into my battery tender lines as I always assumed it would draw too much power for the power outlet in the RT's trunk. Since my battery tender lines are actually designed to power my Gerbings heated clothes, they have a 15 am rating, which is plenty for the Slime, which I think is rated around 9 amps.
