• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Emergency brake dilemma

need to know what type of Spyder:spyder2: you have 1st..Then we know what we lookin at:banghead:

Guessing he has an RT since that is where he posted but the parking brake isn't an emergency brake so hard to be sure. I had to get used to just poking the parking brake rocker button. If you hold it, it will not disengage. OldFTS, you might want to add a signature that tells folks what type Spyder you own. Saves from going into 20 questions or ASSumption mode! Cheers. wg

The brake cable is operated by an electric servo that is located under the right hand side of the tupperware.
There is a fairly large spool the cable is spun on to take up the cable.
Sometimes this cable comes off the spool and can jam either in the on or off position.

I agree with the previous comment  :agree:

Agree..!!

:agree: if it is presently stuck. If it is intermitant you may have something jamming up. The fuse mentioned by billybovine is a first step then move on to the cable to the servo and then on to the rear caliper wher the cable operates the parking brake...:dontknow:

When we start the bike the emergency brake will not disengage. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I am having the same problem. 2012 RT SE5. Pressing the release switch does nothing. Light continues to flash and brake doesn't release. NOTE! I just replaced the battery. I don't know how that could affect it though. When I press the switch, the image of the bike appears (orange) in the bottom center of the display.

I had the same problem with my 2015 RTL. Dealer said he replaced the brake motor. No more problems. Hope this helps.
