There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Elkas

Hey NorthStar, other than the "try them before you buy them" special on the Elkas, what kind of pricing special (if any) will Cowtown be offering during Spyderfest?

The price as I understand it will be unchanged at $650 for the front shocks at Spyderfest. It is not my place to let the cat out of the bag. Maybe John or Len can elaborate further, or maybe they want to surprise everyone.:dontknow::dontknow: Guess we will just have to wait and see.

Not the front ones while moving, Fonz. You can stop and turn a dial real quick and easy. 5 clicks up (right tighty, lefty loosey) and you'll tighten the fluid movement for a firmer ride or down 5 clicks for more fluid movement for a softer ride. So, by on the fly, I just mean that you can do it in a flash, but not while moving... unless you are really, really flexible and willing to take those kind of risks. :joke:

Kevorama, you're crazy haha, thanks for the info. By the way which way should I turn so I'm not blown all over the road by those big trucks

No, you can't be moving to adjust them....although that would be fun to see:roflblack:

You can tell that I'm thrown off. I'm definitely on the right forum. You guys are a great help, and your sense of humor is priceless

Well, it depends. Some folks count from the top and some folks count from the bottom. For now, we'll go from the bottom. There are 50 clicks of adjustments from top to bottom. If you 'unscrew'the fluid setting control all the way to the very bottom, you are at the zero starting point. From here, you can go up a total of 50 clicks. I don't have a formula chart, but Len took my weight and how often I ride by myself and how often I ride with added weight on the passenger seat (read, wife). He took the Elka Shocks up 30 clicks from the very bottom setting on both sides. I haven't moved them yet. I would really suggest you talk with Len at Cowtown. In the home page of this forum is a list of all the contributors and their phones are on the site. Like I've said in many posts, you will really love what these baby's do to your ride! On top of that, they look really cool, too.

IMHO, don't go on the multi-lanes unless you ABSOLUTELY have to. The two lanes are much nicer rides. Oh, and Len and Cowtown are great to work with! I made the mistake of stopping by Cowtown, just to say 'hi' and drove home with a set of Elka stage 1s (already "dialed" in) and installed them, myself, a few days later. Len is a SALESMAN but he knows what he is selling and is a great guy to know and work with. I LOVE my ELKAS.

Well, Cowtown it is. My rides on the big highways are a little shaky, need those shocks. Beaufort reminds me of when I was in Boot Camp

Yep, I live one mile from that Parris Island gate and I'm a military brat..........go figure. Get you those Elka's! I up the tire pressure also and turning the spyder is a breeze now. :ohyea:

Thanks guys, I do my best along side trooper/John from Elka to take care of you guys, I enjoy the stories and seeing people experience the difference in what a good supension can do, congrats to all, and thanks again to everyone.

Hey Fonz, I will be doing free suspension seminars at Spyderest for those that are interested and I will be posting a sign up list closer to the Spyderfest date. I promise not to make them too long or complicated as to not take away from precious riding time. ;)

My RS Elka,s 1+ have 55 Clicks Rebound (Counted twice) and I find 17 Clicks UP(Clockwise) from the bottom(Slowest rebond) are best for my bumpy back roads that I key them for. Tooo Many clicks to the stiff side and when you hit a Lot of Bumps in a row the back end can seem like its bucking . Also the spring (Preload) seems to be about 8 1/2 inches stock but I opened it up (Counterclockwise 4 complete turns) to 8 3/4 inches which softens the ride some. This still gives me great cornering and Highway stability while absorbing the numerous backroad bumps.

Did you have to tak off the front to install your Elkas. Can a regular mechanic install them ?

I installed my new Elka's today as well.....was very easy and only took about 10 minutes. I only did a short ride to test them out.....did notice a difference but tomorrow will hit some twisties!

I find on this forum If people say it took them 10 Minutes to install- I figure--
The better part of an afternoon? :roflblack:

Nope seriously, I jacked up my RS and threw the new RT shocks on it in about 30 to 45 minutes. and mostly because I had no freaking clue what I was doing.

Question. I'm buying some Elkas from a Spyderlover. They're a month old with 100 miles on them. Will someone from Cowtown help me with the settings. My dealer said He would have to take the front off. I have a Rt 2011 Ltd, is this true out there

You do not remove the front of the Spyder to change up the shocks.

You simply need a floor jack and (2) 15mm wrenches to remove the bolts on the shocks. I recommend that you notch out a bit of the air intake plastic in front of the right side upper bolt to give you clearance with your wrench when removing this particular bolt. I used a small rotary tool to notch the plastic. Once the upper and lower bolts have been removed and you take weight off of the suspension the shocks slide out and slide in easily. It will take you about an hour to do this job if you work at a leisurely pace.

Good luck.
