• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Elka Shocks

Those of you who have replaced your stock shocks with Elkas, did you also replace the rear air shock on your RT models?

No, I only replaced the front shocks, the sway bar, and added the shock relocator. The rear performs well enough for me.

Rear ELKA

Well, I did replace the rear shock as well. I called ELKA and asked about a deal they had for a set of front and rear shocks that they used for testing. It turns out that they could not find the front shocks, but still had the rear - It is a STAGE IV with the external reservoir and high and low damping adjustments. The front shocks are the Stage 1's with the rebound adjustment. They made me such a deal I could not turn it down.

I did add the upgrade for the shock positioner and the new sway bar. It took some time to do the adjustments, and quite a bit of tweaking, but my 2011 RT-S handles perfectly now. Since I did the whole thing at one time, I cannot tell which part is the best, but the overall effect is simply amazing. Sometimes, I drift over onto the berm side of the highway just to make the wheels go over the "wake-up" grooves just because it is so amazing. You can hear them, but cannot feel them in the handle bars or the seat. This is true of the front and the back shocks! In many ways, the bike feels more planted on the road than my Caddy STS or the Lexus RX350. It is a great ride.

PS: During the setup trials and tweaks, I spoke with ELKA about how many "turns" it took to make a difference in the "harshness" of the ride. John said: "Do not worry about that, just set the length of the spring to be 7.25 inches and the rebound at 25 clicks, and all should be well. After many tries on my own, I used the settings he suggested, and the ride was just perfect.

Enjoy!

Here's the thing..!!

you don't have to. Most of the handling is in the front and comfort to the rear. You need a good shock in the rear but elka does not make the air adjustable ones. So the ryde may be stifer in the rear....thinking of the passenger (if you ryde with a better half)...

Elka shocks

Thanks everyone for your thoughts, it was greatly appreciated. As it turns out the problem is a worn tie link between the sway bar and A-frame. Order a set of Heim Links from BajaRon today. Thanks again.
